This week isn’t just about costumes and cheers—it’s about pride, precision, and purpose.

This week isn’t just about costumes and cheers—it’s about pride, precision, and purpose.A meeting with Ms. Colandrea, Ms. Andrew, and Dr. Gaskins can be a little scary—not because they’re unkind, but because excellence seems to follow them wherever they go. Ms. Colandrea often reminds the team that “iron sharpens iron,” leading with conviction and pride in upholding the values that define our school. Ms. Andrew brings a meticulous focus to achievement, ensuring that every goal is pursued with care and commitment. And Dr. Gaskins, with her warmth and energy, reminds everyone that leadership thrives through connection—captured perfectly in a short video (click photo below) where she engages with students in the cafeteria, sharing laughter and joy that brighten the room..

At CMIT North High School, learning extends beyond the classroom walls. Our field trips provide students with hands-on opportunities to connect academics with real-world experiences — from STEM innovation and environmental exploration to cultural enrichment and leadership development.

Each trip is designed to deepen understanding, encourage collaboration, and strengthen school spirit. Students must maintain a positive point balance (minimum of 150 points) to be eligible to attend. Please review the list of scheduled field trips below and discuss upcoming opportunities with your student.

Parents are encouraged to remind their students to submit permission slips and stay in good standing so they can take full advantage of these enriching experiences.

We’d also like to acknowledge Ms. Shiela Major, our Financial Secretary, who serves as the Field Trip Coordinator for CMIT North High School. Her efforts ensure that each trip runs smoothly and supports our mission of excellence in education.

QUARTER 1 WRAP-UP: GRADES, GUIDELINES, AND GROWTH QUARTER 1 WRAP-UP: GRADES, GUIDELINES, AND GROWTH

Grades

Quarter 1 Report Card Grading ends on October 31st.

Student Handbook

Please see the updates to the Student Handbooks:

  1. To participate in activities and special programs (e.g., field trips, dress-down days, pep rallys, incentives during lunches etc.), students must not have a negative point balance. Every field trip requires students to have 150 points to attend. Students may also redeem their positive points throughout the school year for various rewards. Information regarding school-wide incentives and the redemption process will be emailed to students.

  2. When in the hallway, students are expected to go to their next location by taking the most direct route. “Taking the long route” is discouraged and may result in consequences. Students should not be going to bathrooms on other floors from where their class is located unless that floor’s bathroom is out of order. A maximum of three students are allowed in the bathroom at any given time. Each student is allowed a maximum of three hall/bathroom passes per day
