That’s a wrap! Marking Period 1 is officially in the books. We’ll be finalizing and posting grades to HAC on Friday, November 14. Most students will begin a new Specials class on Monday as we kick off Marking Period 2.
Fundraiser Update
If you ordered cookie dough, orders will be ready for pickup on Monday, November 10.
If your child cannot bring their order home after school (especially for larger orders), please plan to pick it up between 3:00 and 5:00 PM at the SLMS Cafeteria.
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Sign-ups for parent-teacher conferences will be sent via email on November 12. Our original plan was to include registration links in this newsletter, but we’re still finalizing some items.
Honoring Our Veterans
We are so proud of our Veterans. To honor those connected to our school community, our Salute to Service Club created a beautiful display celebrating Spartan family members who have served. Taking time this morning to read and view each tribute reminded me of the incredible sacrifices made to protect our freedoms.
Sincerely,
Ryan Buterbaugh
6th Grade Student & Family Thanksgiving Luncheon
We are excited to invite our families to join us for the 6th Grade Student & Family Thanksgiving Luncheon on Friday, November 21st, at 12:00 PM, in celebration of American Education Week.
Our dedicated cafeteria team will be preparing a traditional Thanksgiving meal with all the trimmings. Families planning to attend are asked to RSVP using [THIS FORM] by November 19.
Due to limited space, we kindly ask that attendance be limited to parents only. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate younger siblings. In addition, the Thanksgiving meal will be the only lunch option available for 6th grade students on that day.
This luncheon is one of our most cherished and well-attended events of the year, and we look forward to celebrating this special occasion with our 6th grade families!

From the Nurse’s Office: Staying Healthy This Fall
As we continue into the fall months, it's crucial to maintain a healthy environment in our school to protect students during the respiratory virus season. If your child is ill, please consult the following RTMSD guidelines to determine if they should attend school:
Keeping your sick child at home will help them recover sooner and prevent the spread of germs.
Reminding your student to cover their cough and the importance of good handwashing goes a long way in preventing the spread of bacteria and viruses. Proper nutrition and getting plenty of rest helps to maintain their immune system. Please remind your student not to share water bottles, cups/glasses and eating utensils.
A reminder about our district medication policy. Students are not permitted to have any medication with them at school. Only inhalers and EpiPens with self-carry doctor's orders are permitted. Tylenol, Ibuprofen, and Tums are available at the health office with parent permission. If your student needs any other medication at school, please see the Administrations of Medication policy for instructions.
Thank you for helping us keep our school community healthy.

Scholastic Book Fair
The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to The Lake during American Education week, November 17-21. Students will visit the fair in their language arts classes, and payments can be made via cash, checks to Rose Tree Media, credit card, Apple/Google Pay, or eWallet. Learn more about the fair on our Scholastic Book Fair page. Set up an eWallet for your child prior to the fair so they have money to spend on a book when they visit the fair. (Leftover money can be spent at the online fair through November 27th.) We look forward to this popular event and the opportunity to offer great titles to our students at Scholastic's low prices.
F.A.R.E.
Rose Tree Media School District is committed to improving our society today, and for future generations, through outstanding education, awareness, and appreciation of all people. We work to carry out this mission by exhibiting respect for diversity among our student body, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual identity, disability, socioeconomic class, and religion. The mission of F.A.R.E. is to promote and encourage diversity awareness, provide family support, engage in networking, and create deeper unity and understanding within the Rose Tree Media School District and the surrounding community.
Click on the FARE Information document to learn about upcoming opportunities to get involved and meeting information.
Please also refer to the school calendar for meeting dates and any rescheduling.
Cell Phones and Electronic Devices
To keep classrooms focused and learning uninterrupted, all wireless devices, including cell phones, smart watches, earbuds, and similar devices, must be OFF and AWAY during the school day unless a teacher gives a specific academic reason to use them. Students will be reminded each morning to power down their devices.
Please let your child know that you will not be texting or calling during school hours. If a student needs to reach a parent, a staff member can provide permission. In an emergency, the main office is the best way to get in touch. More details are available in the Springton Lake Student Handbook.
Thank you for helping us create a safe, distraction-free learning environment!
