Message from the Principal
A Message of Strength, Unity, and Belonging at Westview
1/19/26
Dear Westview Families,
Today, we pause to honor the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a leader whose legacy reminds us of the power of unity, courage, and the belief that every individual matters.
At Westview Middle School, we are deeply committed to ensuring that every student feels safe, valued, and connected. We recognize that many families are navigating uncertainty, worry, or feelings of isolation. In moments like these, schools play a vital role—not only in educating students academically, but in nurturing their sense of belonging and strength.
As we look ahead to Black History Month, our campus will intentionally highlight leaders and changemakers who stood for equality, dignity, and justice. These individuals came from many backgrounds and used their voices—often peacefully and courageously—to inspire hope, resilience, and positive change. Their stories remind us that progress is built through empathy, community, and standing together.
Through classroom learning, campus activities, and shared conversations, we will focus on messages that uplift our students:
That they are not alone
That their voices matter
That our differences make us stronger
That kindness, respect, and courage shape the world around us
Our goal is to help students see themselves as part of a caring community—one where everyone belongs and where strength is found in unity.
We are grateful for the trust you place in us each day. Please know that Westview remains a place of support, compassion, and care for all students and families. If your family needs assistance or support, we encourage you to reach out. We are here to help.
Together, we will continue to rise—guided by empathy, grounded in respect, and united as one Wildcat community.
With gratitude and commitment,
Dr. Emily R. Delgado
Principal, Westview Middle School

🏀 Wildcat Athletics Updates
It’s an exciting week for Wildcat Athletics as our teams take the court against Cele Middle School. We look forward to strong competition and the opportunity for our student-athletes to demonstrate teamwork, sportsmanship, and Wildcat pride.
We will wrap up the week on a high note with our 7th Grade Girls Basketball Tournament taking place on Saturday. This tournament is a great opportunity to celebrate the hard work, growth, and dedication of our student-athletes throughout the season.

📱 Cell Phone Reminder
At Westview Middle School, our goal is to maintain a focused, respectful, and distraction-free learning environment for all students. As a reminder, cell phones are not allowed to be seen or used during the school day. This includes hallways, classrooms, and common areas.
To support consistency across the district, we will be following the PfISD Cell Phone Consequence Ladder for any violations:
OffenseConsequence 1st OffenseDevice confiscated — must be picked up by a parent or guardian. 2nd OffenseDevice confiscated and lunch detention assigned (documented in Skyward). 3rd OffenseDevice confiscated, ½ day of ISS, and a parent meeting required. Chronic IssuesMay result in a full day of ISS, a behavior plan, or a temporary ban on bringing the device to school.
We appreciate your partnership in reinforcing this expectation at home. When students are free from distractions, they can better focus, engage, and succeed in their learning.
💜 Go Wildcats — focused and ready to learn!
Safety Protocols
New Transportation Badge System
Beginning this month, the PfISD Transportation Department will introduce a new Transportation Badge System for students who ride the school bus. This system is designed to make transportation even safer and more efficient for our Wildcats.
Students who ride the bus will receive a new ID badge from the transportation department. They will simply scan their badge when getting on and off the bus, allowing district staff to ensure students are always on the correct bus and helping families stay informed. This system helps prevent mix-ups and gives everyone greater peace of mind—nothing more, and nothing to worry about.
These new badges are multi-purpose, too! Students will be able to:
-
Access breakfast and lunch in the cafeteria
-
Check out books in the library
-
Wear the badge daily as part of our regular school ID expectations
If your child does not ride the bus, they will continue using their current school badge, and no changes are needed.
We appreciate your partnership as we roll out this helpful system that supports student safety and smooth daily routines for all.
Lunch Visits with Your Wildcat
We love seeing our Wildcat families join their students for lunch! Families are always welcome to bring outside food and enjoy lunch with their child at our picnic tables. These moments mean so much to our students, and we truly enjoy having our families here on campus.
If you would like to have lunch with your child, simply stop by the front office when you arrive. Our staff will call your student out of the cafeteria, and you can briefly sign them out and back in once lunch is finished. It’s a simple process, and a wonderful way to stay connected with your child during the school day.
We hope to see you at lunch soon!
Attendance Matters
Help your child perform at their highest level this year! 🏫✨
- Our Year to Date Attendance is 93.1%.
- 6th Grade = 94.1%
- 7th Grade = 92.5.%
- 8th Grade = 92.5%
- Try to schedule doctor and dentist appointments after school or in the afternoon so your child can be counted present.
- Every school day matters—just a few missed days can add up quickly.
Thank you for partnering with us to make every day count for your child’s success! 💙
Tardy Consequences
⏰ Tardy Update: Way to Go, Wildcats!
We’re proud to share that our students have been doing a much better job getting to class on time! Thank you to all of our families for supporting this effort — your partnership makes a big difference. When students arrive to class promptly, they are more engaged, prepared, and ready to learn from bell to bell.
While we’re celebrating this progress, please remember that we are still issuing consequences for excessive tardies according to our campus Tardy Consequence Ladder:
3Level 1 Warning 6Level 2 Warning 91 Day After-School Detention 122 Days After-School Detention + Parent Conference 15 or more1 Day of In-School Suspension (ISS)

Thank you for continuing to encourage your student to be on time every day. Every minute in class counts toward their success!
💜 Let’s keep up the great work, Wildcats!
