A Note from the Principal

Dear Rox El Families,

Thank you to everyone who came out to our Meet the Principal event on Monday evening! It was wonderful to meet so many families and begin learning what makes Roxboro Elementary such a special community. I can't believe the first day of school is almost here. I am truly honored to be your principal, and I am looking forward to a fantastic year together.

I had a wonderful summer making memories with my husband and daughter, including a trip to Salt Lake City with our close friends. It was my first visit to Utah, and we loved exploring both the city and the mountains. One of the highlights was spotting a moose on our very first wildflower hike! I also enjoyed some quieter days here in Cleveland, including spending a full day reading at the Main Branch of the Cleveland Public Library, where I discovered a fascinating short story collection by one of my new favorite writers, Marie-Helene Bertino.

Other summer highlights included hearing the Cleveland Orchestra perform the live soundtrack to Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and spending a weekend at Great Wolf Lodge with my daughter, who will be starting second grade this fall, and her two best friends. We didn't get much sleep, but we came home with some good memories.

As we prepare for the start of the school year, our wonderful custodial staff has been working hard to get our building and classrooms ready for learning. We are excited to welcome our teachers back soon, and then, of course, our students! I can't wait to see Roxboro buzzing with energy as we begin a wonderful school year together.

Best,

Mel Barrett Burkeet

Parent Annual Update - Required by 8/18

It wouldn't be a new school year without the Annual Update! Please log in to Infinite Campus to complete your Annual Update before 8/18. This important step ensures we have the most up-to-date contact, emergency, and family information so we can best support your child throughout the school year.

If you need assistance, please call us at Rox to help! We will also have computers available to use in our main office on 8/13 during our school supply drop-off event at 2:00pm.

You must complete the PAU in order to access your child’s teacher/classroom assignment and/or schedule in Infinite Campus. Between August 12-14, the portal will be open for the new school year, and families who have completed the PAU can see schedules/courses, etc. at that time.

Additionally, until your child's PAU for the 2026-2027 school year has been completed, they will not be permitted to participate in field trips, sports*, or extra-curricular activities.

It’s extremely important that we have the most up-to-date emergency contact and medical information for your child when they are participating in such activities. To avoid these consequences, please complete your child’s PAU by August 18.

Directions for how to complete the Annual Update:

1. Log into the Infinite Campus Parent Portal.

  • All CH-UH parents/guardians have an Infinite Campus Parent Portal account. Parents/guardians have either self-registered or have been issued an account. Newly enrolled families receive account information via email within a few business days after their student is enrolled. If you are experiencing login difficulties or need a password reset, please contact your school’s front office staff or the Data Department at icportal@chuh.org.

2. Navigate to the Online Registration tab. This can be accessed in two places:
  • Shortcuts: Online Registration & Required Annual Update, OR
  • Main Menu > More: Online Registration & Required Annual Update

3. You will see REQUIRED in red on the Annual Update. Click Start. A new window will open that will allow you to complete the Annual Update.

Find a PDF of these instructions here.

Class Dojo

As part of a districtwide effort to strengthen communication and support our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program, Roxboro will be expanding our use of ClassDojo this year. Many of our teachers and families already use ClassDojo, and we're excited to make it an even more effective way to share classroom updates, celebrate student successes, and stay connected.

If you're new to ClassDojo, don't worry! I'll share more information in our next newsletter about how to connect and get started.
