Student Device Insurance - Enrollment Extended Until October 29

Device insurance for student devices has moved to a new system for the 2026-27 school year. Families who wish to participate must enroll by October 29 through your PowerSchool Parent Portal account.

  • Enrollment Cost: $30 per student device
  • Free/Reduced Meal Students: $0 enrollment cost
  • How to Enroll: Log into your PowerSchool Parent Portal account and complete the Insurance Form under "Forms." Via the PowerSchool app, go to "More," then "Forms." The $30 enrollment fee will be collected within the form.
Insurance can significantly reduce the cost of repairs or replacement. With insurance, the cost for a standard repair is $40, while lost or stolen devices have a $100 replacement fee. Without insurance, families are responsible for the increased repair or full replacement costs. Visit the One-to-One Learning page of our website for additional Student Device FAQs and responsibilities.

Hello Compass Families!

Thank you to all of our families who attended parent-teacher conferences! The partnership between home and school is so incredibly important in supporting our students' learning and growth. We appreciate you taking the time to connect with our teachers, celebrate progress, and continue working together to support your child.

We hope you enjoy the extended time with your family this weekend, and we look forward to seeing everyone back at Compass on Tuesday, November 3rd.

Go Pirates!

Nominate Them for Orange Crush! Platte County School District is starting a new tradition to recognize the employees who make a difference every day.

Orange Crush celebrates Pirates who are “CRUSHING IT” in the ways they support our students, staff, schools and community. From creating meaningful experiences and welcoming environments to showing exceptional care and making a positive impact, Orange Crush gives us a chance to shine a light on the people behind the everyday moments that matter.

All employee groups are eligible to be nominated throughout the school year. Nominations will be reviewed by the District's Executive Leadership Team, and every nominee will be acknowledged for the positive impact they are making across our District with at least one (or maybe more!) nominees selected monthly as an Orange Crush honoree. Stuff the Turkey

PCR-3 FCCLA is hosting a “Stuff the Turkey” Toiletry Drive to benefit the PCR-3 Treasure Chest.

I have attached both a PDF and PNG version of the Canva graphic advertising the drive. The graphic also includes a brief description of the event. I have shared the Canva link with you as well, as I wasn’t sure which format would be most helpful. Additionally, I have attached a couple of photos of the donation boxes and our FCCLA committee chairperson with a FCCLA member.

Community members can support the drive by dropping off toiletry donations at any of the high school Welcome Centers. A “Stuff the Turkey” donation box is available at each location.

Veteran's Day Event!

Our Veterans Day event will be November 11th from 8:00-9:30. This will include breakfast, Door decoration contest, and a flag raising celebration.

Birthday Treats

Celebrations and Birthdays We believe it is important for the school to recognize our students on their birthday and other special days. However, for several reasons including increased food allergies, preservation of the instructional day, and student equality, students are not allowed to bring treats from home or have flowers/balloons or other items delivered to the classroom for birthdays, going-away parties, or other personal events. Each classroom teacher will recognize the student in a special way to celebrate his or her birthday. If a student receives a delivery at school, the student will be notified to come to the office to view the item. Parents will be responsible for transporting the item home. Birthday party invitations may only be distributed if invitations are given to every student in the class.

Parents as Teachers

The Platte County R-3 School District Parents as Teachers program is a free and voluntary program designed to help District families with children prenatal to school age through monthly home visits. The parent educators provide caregivers the knowledge and skills to empower them as their child's first and most influential teacher. Through this program you can learn more about parenting and child development, learn ways to cope with challenges of family life, identify any potential delays in your child's development, and join fun group connections to meet other families in the Parents as Teachers program.

For more information and to enroll please visit our Parents as Teachers webpage.

Pirates ROCK and Portrait of a Graduate

Since 2005, Pirates ROCK (Raising Outstanding Character Kids) has helped shape a strong culture of character across Platte County School District. More than 20 years later and beginning with the 2026-27 school year, we're building on that tradition by aligning Pirates ROCK with our Portrait of a Graduate essential skills.

This evolution creates a more consistent, student-centered approach to character development by focusing on the six essential skills that prepare learners to thrive in school, careers, and life. Students will continue to be recognized for demonstrating outstanding character while developing the competencies that support our mission of ensuring every learner thrives in an ever-changing world with confidence and resilience, all through a consistent framework and shared language as they grow from kindergarten through graduation.

Throughout the year, we'll focus on these essential skills:

  • October/November: Self-Awareness
  • December/January: Personal Connections
  • February: Personal Growth
  • March: Problem-Solving
  • April: Global Connections

Treasure Chest

The PCR-3 Treasure Chest is a stocked resource center providing food, milk, and toiletries for PCR-3 students and families in need. Qualifying families will receive a weekly form via email to sign up or can call 816-858-7001 for assistance.
