Thanksgiving Day Lunch!
Our Thanksgiving Day lunch this year is TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 10!
Important things to know and do:
- Avoid long lines by pre-checking in ONLINE. That's right! You don't have to come in ahead of time! Complete THIS FORM prior to midnight on Sunday, November 8 to pre-check-in and avoid the check-in line! You are also welcome to come in person to be pre-checked any time between 8am and 2pm.
- If you would like to purchase a school lunch ahead of time, CLICK HERE. Purchases the DAY OF must be paid in CASH.
- All visitors not attending with a parent/guardian must be listed as a contact for each child. Please complete THIS FORM to add a contact prior to November 8 to add allowed contacts to your child's profile.
- Children must attend their assigned lunch. In other words, visitors may not pull students from multiple grade levels to one lunch. Thank you for understanding that this creates chaos and is stressful to teachers who are trying to keep track of students.
- Feel free to arrive early, however, because of limited space, please be prepared to wait outside for a bit.
Again, we highly recommend pre-checking prior to the event in order to avoid long lines. Anyone planning to attend the luncheon on Tuesday must either pre-check or check in at the front office with a valid ID on the day of the event.
Thanksgiving Day Lunch Schedule:
10:00-10:30am - Pre-K, ECSE, and FL

ID Badges - District Requirement
ID Badges are Required
All students are required to wear ID Badges at all times per district safety protocols. They are required for students to ride the bus. If your child does not have a bus ID, s/he will not be permitted to ride the bus in the afternoons and must be picked up by car through the car rider line at 3:00pm. Please call the front office prior to 1:00pm the day of to make transportation changes.
Bus riders have 2 IDs- one stays on the backpack and one stays on the child at school. Badges should not leave school, but please make sure your child returns with the badge if s/he accidentally takes it home.
If a child needs to replace the badge, the cost is $5. USE THIS LINK to pay for your child's replacement badge.
VERY IMPORTANT - Do not punch a hole in the ID. That will deactivate the badge. This is the reason we provide clear plastic sleeves instead.

Attendance Matters
It's not just the law
At Hemphill, we are not just preparing children to take tests; we're preparing children for LIFE!
Certainly we want our children to learn how to read, write, and compute math problems, but more importantly, we want our children to know how to succeed in life - academically, socially, and emotionally. We pride ourselves on supporting the whole child. We implement Leader in Me, a framework that nurtures student leadership, fosters a culture of trust, and boosts academic success. We teach our children executive functioning skills and metacognition so that they can learn to be independent thinkers and resilient members of our society. We cannot do any of this unless children attend school.
The Texas compulsory attendance law states that students must be present for at least 90% of school year in order to earn credit.
We look forward to partnering with families to ensure student success!
