Rising 11th grade Preparations
Everything needed to plan for next school year
Parents and Guardians of Jasper Families,
As this semester comes to a close, your Jasper family wants to wish you a restful break and a Happy New Year.
This semester, your students were introduced to SchooLinks and reviewed CCMR (College, Career & Military Readiness) information. At the start of the new semester we will be working with your families with course registration for the upcoming school year, discussing PSAT results and future college and career plans. Below is information you may wish to review prior to the start of January.
Student Registration for the 2023-24 School Year
Plano West will host moving out West on January 18th
Jasper and Shepton counselors will host a follow up 10th grade parent night through Zoom on January 19th, from 5:30-6:30 through Zoom link: https://tinyurl.com/10thMOWfollowup
Jasper counselors will work with students through World History classes on January 20th to review courses for 11th grade. Plano West counselors are available to students during lunch on this day to meet with students.
Jasper counselors will be meeting in individual 30 minute sessions with 10th grade students (parents joining through Zoom) from January 23rd through March 1st to select 11th grade courses, discuss graduation requirements and endorsements, PSAT/SAT/ACT testing, post high school planning and career goals. Families will receive a letter in the mail notifying them the time and date of their appointment.
Due to the short time frame, families may wish to preview the registration, course information and descriptions below, as well as the CCMR Guidebook. This book contains much valuable information.
Rising Juniors Dual Credit Opportunity
Dual credit courses are college courses taken during high school. Students who successfully complete dual credit courses earn both high school and college credit for one course. Plano ISD partners with Collin County Community College District to offer dual credit courses.
Plano ISD offers both academic and workforce education dual credit courses. College course grades earned in dual credit courses are on the student’s college transcript as well as the high school transcript. There are tuition fees associated with dual credit courses, but students receiving free or reduced lunch benefits may have tuition waived. Pathways to College & Career Readiness
PTSA PSAT, College, and Career Night
Students may set up a College Board account if they do not already have one. If your student does not have an account, they can still do so by following these instructions.
Why have a College Board Account? One important reason is to access PSAT scores that were released on December 6th. Please see links below to help guide you and your student in accessing their PSAT scores.
Students can view their detailed score report and AP Potential feedback in the SAT Suite of Assessments student score report portal. http://psat.org/myscore

CCMR - College Career and Military Readiness
It is our goal to help all students be identified as College, Career or Military Ready by the end of their 12th grade year. We spoke with students about the meaning of CCMR and ways that they can be identified as CCMR ready. We would love for you to take this quick (5 question) CCMR Parent Survey to help us gauge the current understanding of Jasper parents in regards to CCMR.
During Connect after the PSAT, students were asked to complete the onboarding process for their SchooLinks account. Families can review the following presentation to ensure they have completed all the necessary steps for this college and career planning tool.

SchooLinks
As a parent/guardian, you also have access to School Links, which is Plano ISD's chosen platform for College and Career exploration. Please see this School Links Quick Guide for Guardians to explore School Links. You can also visit with your student and ask them to show you their login through their Plano ISD webdesk. If you have difficulty logging in, you can get help at https://support.schoolinks.com This year students completed their "Find My Path" assessment and visited the School Links dashboard where they can explore different colleges and careers that they may be interested in. In 11th and 12th grade, students will be able to use School Links to apply to colleges and match with scholarships.
