Viking School Spirit at Unified Special Olympics' Red & White Game
The Viking school spirit showed out last Thursday! Our Special Olympics Unified Basketball Team played its Red & White game as part of Respect Week. Students and staff packed the stands to cheer them on.
Each year, schools across Illinois celebrate Respect Week. This celebration is derived from the Spread the Word Campaign that originally worked to promote the end of using derogatory terms to describe people with disabilities. This campaign now focuses on inclusion for people with disabilities. In Illinois, we celebrate Respect for All--no matter the disability, gender, race, etc.--each year to promote respect.
Special Olympics Basketball Heads to State
The Vikings' Special Olympics Basketball Team is also headed to State competition this weekend. The team will compete on Friday at 11:45 a.m. and Saturday at 10:15 a.m. at Illinois State University in the Horton Fieldhouse. Go Vikings!

The Guidance Office is hosting college reps visiting with our students during the spring semester! Please have your child log onto SchooLinks to register. Once logged in (they log in with their HF Gmail account), they will simply click on "School Events", where they will see the list of colleges signed up. They can click on the college that they are interested in visiting. After that, click on "register for this event", and that's it!
Please have your child make sure that they discuss this with their teacher whose class they're missing and ask for a pass for the day they will be meeting with the college rep. Please know that visiting with college reps is a privilege, not a right, and your teacher has the discrepancy to say no. If that's the case, have your child reach out to Mr. Kain (bkain@hf233.org) or Mr. Coy (kcoy@hf233.org) and they can get them some information and send it their way. Any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to Mr. Kain or Mr. Coy.
Solving Issues with FAFSA

Please see this letter below for more information and if you have any questions, feel free to reach out to our Post-Secondary Counselors Mr. Kain at bkain@hf233.org or Mr. Coy at kcoy@hf233.org.
