From the SLT – Week 1, Term 4

Kia ora TNIS whānau, and welcome back to Term 4—we hope you had a wonderful break.

The holidays were busy on site: the entire school was ChemWashed, we completed playground and tree maintenance, and tackled a range of upkeep jobs so our spaces remain safe, tidy, and welcoming. To stay in the loop, please keep an eye on the school website, the TNIS School App, and our Facebook page for updates and reminders.

Staffing Updates for 2026

We are excited to annouce a few changes to the teaching lineup for 2026. In STEAM we welcome Jeremy Ferguson to the specialist team, and taking over as the Sports coordinator is Cameron Neal. We're also happy to annouce that Julia Sides and Eleanor Rook have accepted full-time teaching positions.

Uniform & Sun Safety

Learners must arrive and leave in full school uniform. On Zone Days, learners may come in PE gear (with sports shoes)—no Crocs, please. As the weather warms, we strongly encourage learners to wear their school hats whenever they’re outside. Please name hats clearly.

Pick-up & Parking

For safety, the front car park is closed 2:55–3:15 pm daily. Limited parking is available in the school car park; additional spaces are in the overflow car park by the Adventure Playground. Consider arranging a meeting spot near (but not inside) the school to ease congestion. Note: left-turn only when exiting our car park until the three school buses have departed.

Wet-Weather Ready

Term 4 can be unpredictable—please pack a raincoat or umbrella. We recommend enclosed shoes at this time of year; sandals must not be worn with socks.

Attendance & Lateness

Regular attendance is essential and aligns with the national focus we fully support. If your child is away, please notify us each day via email, the app, or by calling the office. The school day begins at 8:45 am—please help your child arrive by 8:30 am so they’re settled and ready. Late arrivals disrupt learning and unsettle carefully planned lessons. If you need help to improve attendance or punctuality, contact your child’s teacher or Sandy Harford: sharford@tnis.school.nz.
