Monitor Elementary School
February 2026
Message from Principals
Happy February! There are lots of exciting things happening these month! We'll kick off the month celebrating our school counselors, and we'll have hat day on Friday, February 6th! We will celebrate kindness week starting on February 9th and encourage students to participate in our kindness themed dress up days. On February 12th we will be enjoying class parties for Valentine's Day and our monthly student birthday lunch. We will also celebrate our CSSO, Officer Christy, on that day! There is no school on Friday, February 13th, and we will have picture day on Thursday, February 26th. Many of our grade levels are ATLAS testing this month. These tests give us important information about student progress, so please encourage your child to do his/her best. Finally, please save the date for student-led conferences. These will take place March 9th and 10th, and we look forward to seeing our families then! It's going to be another great month at Monitor!

Winter Weather Recess Attire
Inclement Weather
If there is inclement weather, please check the Springdale Public Schools Facebook page and the local news for information about school closures. As a general rule, we do not post if we are having school, only if the school will be closed. Also, please note that four student catch-up days are built into our school calendar, so if we have any snow days, the first four will not be required to be made up at the end of the school year.
Student-Led Conferences
Mark your calendar! Student-led conferences will be March 9th and 10th. Look for more information coming home later this month!
Monitor Career Day
Career day is coming up soon! If you are interested in sharing information to students about your job with our students, please contact Mrs. Engelmann {our school counselor} at (479) 750-8749 or sengelmann@sdale.org. We need you and would love to have you!
Updated Contact Information
If your phone number or address has changed, please contact the office at (479) 750-8749 to let us know. It is important that we have the correct phone number for us to be able to get in touch with you and for you to get automated messages from the school with important information.
Dress Code Reminders
As the weather is changing and students are growing, please be mindful of the following school dress code items:
- Distressed jeans should not have holes or rips above fingertip length.
- Shirts should be long enough so the midriff is not showing.
- Pajama pants should be worn on pajama days only.
If you need any help with clothing for your child, please contact the school and connect with our school social worker, Reina Hart.
Student Check In & Check Out Procedures
The school day begins at 7:45am. Students who arrive after 7:45am should be checked in by an adult in the front office. If you need to change the way your child is going home, please contact your child's teacher or call the office by 2pm. Also, please note that if you are checking out your student, students will not be called to the office until a parent is in the office to pick them up so students are in class for instruction for as long as possible.
Parent Center
If you have not yet visited our parent center, in the front lobby right outside the counseling office, we invite you to come look at the resources we have waiting for you! You can also check out our digital Parent Information & Resource Center linked below! This hub includes live links to direct families to community and state resources to help meet their needs. Our staff, including our social worker, counselors, parent liaisons, and more, are also here to assist families. We hope you'll find this resource helpful!
