Message from Principal Groves - Week of February 26, 2024
Dear Blacklick Families:
Toiletry Kits for the Ronald McDonald House - Last Week for Donations!
Your gift of travel size toiletries allows families to stay close to their hospitalized child without having to run to a store and worry about getting simple items like deodorant, toothpaste and shampoo. THANK YOU to all of the families that have already donated to our collection! Students will be putting these toiletry bags together with their buddies. Please send in all of your donations to your child’s classroom teacher by this Friday, March 1st.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns at 614-759-5100 or by email at grovesk@gjps.org.
Respectfully,
Kristen Groves

Related Arts: Kindergarten News!
Art Update in Kindergarten
In art class we read the book, “The Big Orange Splot” and students were inspired to design their own dream houses! Students used pencil, sharpie outlined their details and then used watercolor to paint!
Library Update in Kindergarten
Kindergarteners have been learning about online safety and now we’re reading books from 2022 or 2023 that they can nominate for the 2024 Buckeye Book Award, which is only voted on by students in Ohio (no teacher voting is an important distinction to them).
Music Update for Kindergarten
Kindergarteners are learning new skills, new songs, and new ways to move their bodies every music class!
We are practicing moving our voices “up and down”, and singing songs independently!
You will occasionally see “Ask Me…” papers in your child’s backpacks from Mrs. Wolfe. Please encourage your child to sing the song to as many people as they want! We are building confident musicians with a love of music! :)
Butterfly Guild of Nationwide Children's Hospital's Annual Production
Blacklick music teacher, Mrs. Wolfe, will be performing again this year in the Butterfly Guild of Nationwide Children’s Hospital’s annual production! This year, the show is Beauty & The Beast! Come see Mrs. Wolfe as a “silly girl” and a dancing plate! Performances are March 1, 2, & 3 at the Palace Theater. Interested families can purchase tickets by calling (614)-469-0939 or online at LINK.

Blacklick PRIDE Partner PTO (Parent/Teacher Organization)
The next PTO meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 12, 2024 in the new art room at 6:30 PM.
The Blacklick PRIDE Partner PTO has complied a list of the staff's favorite things. It is important to understand the teachers are not asking for gifts. We know that many parents might want to get their child's teacher a gift and this list is to help you select something the teacher would like. Please do not feel obligated to buy a gift for your child's teachers/staff members. A thoughtful note from you and/or your child at any time of the year is appreciated just as much or more as any gift.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Karen Davidson, PTO President, at ptoblacklick@gmail.com.
