Remembering 9/11
Today marks the 21st anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on the United States. As we move forward, please take a moment and remember all of the lives lost during the attacks. This link provides lessons to engage middle level learners in activities to learn and understand the impacts of that day. Tomorrow morning, the school will have a moment of silence to honor all of the lives lost on that day.
MWC Success!
The first shows students leaving the school after the first full day fill with smiles and excitement!
The second picture highlights our new neighborhood project areas. Teachers have already begun to engage students in highly collaborative and engaging activities in these new spaces.
The third photo shows a grade 6 classroom opened up to engage an entire team in one lesson. Now that's Not Your Average Team!
Chromebook Reminders
Students need to have the Chromebooks with them in school charged and ready every day. If your student does not have their Chromebook due to it being lost or stolen, please reach out to the main office as families will be financially responsible for the device before receiving another one. If the Chromebook is broken, please have your child bring it to Mrs. Shea in the Guidance Office during the school day to be replaced. If you are missing a charger, the most cost effective site to buy a replacement can be found here.
Reminders for Student Drop-Off
Please be courteous to our neighbors by not blocking their driveways, especially on Chard Street. Cars dropping off via Commercial Street should consider pulling over to the side of the road to drop off their student. This will alleviate traffic backing up on Commercial Street. Using sidewalks students can safely walk to campus. Safety is our #1 Priority!!
Permitted zones for student drop-off and pick up!
Morning Bell
Students can enter the building at 8:00 am for a free breakfast in our cafeteria. Students should establish lifelong good habits by arriving at school on time! Students should arrive in homeroom between 8:10-8:20 am with attendance is posted daily at 8:20 am. Students arriving after 8:20 am are tardy!! Please do not drop students off before 8:00 am!
Procedures for absence, tardy and dismissal
All absences should be reported to the Main Office by calling 781-337-4500 by 8:30 am. Messages can be left on the attendance line at any time, including during non-school hours. Please leave a detailed message with the student's first and last name with the nature of the absence. Doctors' notes can be emailed to Valerie.Giannandrea@weymouthps.org in the Health Office.
Students arriving after 8:20 am will need to stop at the Security Desk and receive a tardy pass. If the student is tardy due to a medical or dental appointment , a note from the Doctor's' office will excuse the tardy.
Please notify us in advance of all dismissals in writing or by telephone call. Allow at least one hour advance notice. Maria Weston Chapman is a very large school, and our students travel throughout the day. Please have photo identification when picking up your child. So that students aren't missing out on learning time please do not ask to have your child waiting for your arrival. Students will be called for dismissal upon parent/guardian arrival after identification is verified, no exceptions.
Thank you for your partnership and support of our school community!
Transportation
Most transportation questions can be answered by visiting our website ww.weymouthschools.org Chapman buses are almost at full capacity. If your child needs a bus don't delay in submitting an application. Students who have been placed on a wait list for transportation should have a bus assignment by September 14th. Bus passes will be issued by mid October. Payment is due for all pay riders to receive a bus pass.
Your fee can be reduced by completing the Free and Reduced Lunch Application below. Students receive transportation on a space available basis. Routes will fill up quickly and will close when the buses reach maximum capacity.
We thank you for your patience!
Please Complete the Informational Application for free and reduced lunch
It is very important for families to still complete the household Application for Free and Reduced Price Meals for the 2022-2023 school year. Please complete this application as soon as possible to receive benefits.
We encourage you to complete the online application, or a paper application, on the food services webpage: https://www.weymouthschools.org/district/food-services/pages/free-and-reduced-application-and-information
We strongly encourage all families to submit this application as it allows us to establish eligibility for P-EBT benefits, other fees within the district, and serve families most effectively. In addition, please consider applying for SNAP, the federal nutrition program that provides eligible residents with monthly financial assistance to purchase groceries. More SNAP information can be found at gettingsnap.org or by calling Project Bread’s FoodSource Hotline at 1-800-645-8333.
The food and nutrition department at Weymouth Public Schools thanks you for your patience awaiting this news! As always, we are grateful for the opportunity to provide nourishing and healthy meals to all Weymouth students so please reach out to Liz Sauro, Food Service Director at elizabeth.sauro@weymouthps.org with any questions or concerns.

Teachers are not using them in the classroom for lessons at all. Please support the learning going on and reinforce our policy of off and away in your locker.
