2nd Grade Newsletter
October 27-31
What a Wonderful Week at Windsong!
In Math, we’ve been composing and decomposing 2D shapes and exploring all the creative ways shapes can come together to form new ones.
In Writing, our students proudly published and shared their personal narratives! We are so proud of their hard work and creativity. Next up, we’re diving into our next writing piece — Expert Writing — where students will get to teach others all about a topic they know best!
In Social Studies, we put a fun twist on learning about voting by holding our own election to choose a new Mayor for Fairy Tale City. Students learned about making choices, campaigning, and the importance of having a voice.
In Science, we explored sound energy and vibrations through some exciting hands-on experiments. Our scientists had a blast discovering how sounds are made and how they travel.
We’re looking forward to a fun week ahead celebrating Red Ribbon Week, with themed dress-up days and activities that promote making healthy and safe choices. We’ll wrap up the week with a special visit from the Fire Clowns, who will teach us all about fire safety in a fun and engaging way!
It’s been a week full of learning, creativity, and discovery!

- Along with weekly Phonics practice, have your child read something of their choice for 20 minutes a night or 100 minutes for the week. Please see the Take Home Support pictured here for more guidance on At-Home Phonics activities. This paper is also located in each student's purple folder.
- 25-26 Yearbook Cover Contest! This year our Yearbook Cover Contest will be open to all grade levels!
