Celebrating Academic Achievement

Our schoolwide goal tied to Excellence is: “Boston Prep will achieve an average Student Growth Percentile (SGP) of 60 or higher across all tested MCAS subjects.”

In Massachusetts, Student Growth Percentiles (SGPs) are used with MCAS results to measure student academic growth over time. SGPs range from 1 to 99, with 50 representing typical growth. An SGP measures how much a student has grown academically compared to other students across the state who have similar prior assessment scores.

Our MCAS results from SY26-27 show that we are making progress toward achieving and, in some instances, surpassing this goal.

High School SGP Results

  • Our average SGP is 63.9, above the schoolwide goal of 60. Math is 67.5 and ELA is 60.2.

  • 71% of math SGP scores and 53% of ELA SGP scores are at or above 60.

  • There are 19 math SGP scores and 13 ELA SGP scores of 90 or higher.

Middle School SGP Results

  • Across grades 6-8, there are 18 math SGP scores and 19 ELA SGP scores of 90 or higher, showing exceptional growth.

  • Our 8th graders are closing in on the goal, with a math SGP average of 59.2 and an ELA SGP average of 55.5.

    • About two-thirds of 8th-grade math scores are at or above 50.

These results are the product of our students’ hard work, our teachers’ dedication, and the support our families give at home. Thank you for being our partners. We’re proud of the progress, and we’re working to support every student to achieve an SGP of 60 or above in all tested MCAS subjects.

Our Du Bois Award is the highest honor here at Boston Prep. The grade level team deliberates and decides on which student has exceeded expectations and stands a lead Phoenix amongst the flock. To date, we have named a winner in the 12th, 11th, and 8th grade. Students are recognized at a whole school community meeting, we invite families to participate, and our students earn an embroidered blazer (maroon- HS, black- MS).

We look forward to inducting a 10th, 9th, and 7th grader by the end of the month.

Will your student be the next recipient?

Here is our current Hall of Fame: Unique A. (grade 12), Benacci P. (grade 11), and Damani D. (grade 8)

Neighborhood and Community Events

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston (BGCB) all youth memberships will be free. This decision waives the standard $25 annual fee for children (ages 6-12) and the $5 fee for teens, removing a financial barrier for thousands of families in Boston and Chelsea. While summer camp fees will remain, BGCB is also introducing rolling admissions, allowing families to enroll their children at any point throughout the year. BGCB aims to welcome 1,000 new members during the 2025-2026 school year.
