Back to School Dance, Saturday School, Science Camp Meeting, and More! Back to School Dance, Saturday School, Science Camp Meeting, and More!

We have our Back to School Dance/Luau this week on Friday from 4pm to 5:30pm. Tickets for the Back-to-School Luau go on sale starting Monday and are $3 for dance entry only and $5 for dance entry with a slice of pizza. Drinks will be sold separately at the dance for cash. Students must have satisfactory citizenship to purchase tickets for the dance, and while we encourage Luau/Hawaiian attire, the school dress code is in effect. All students will enter the dance through the main gate near the front office, and students must be picked up from campus promptly at 5:30pm.

Progress Reports will be going home at the end of this week. As I mentioned in last week's newsletter, the grades are a snapshot of where the students are right now; we still have 13 weeks left in the semester, this is a great time to course correct or seek out support if students are struggling.

Has your student missed school due to illness or other reasons? Saturday School starts up this week on 9/21. Students may attend Saturday and recover an absence, get caught up on school work, or receive extra support. See the blurb below for information on Saturday School and the permission slip to attend.

In other news, the NLMUSD is seeking community input on its search for a new Superintendent. Please see the flyer below for more information on how you can participate in this process. Community forums are scheduled for Monday and Wednesday this week.

Are you the parent of a 6th Grader and considering Science Camp? Make sure you attend our Parent Meeting on Tuesday at 6pm via zoom. You'll have an opportunity to hear from the Camp Owner/Director and learn more about this great opportunity for students.

All Benton students are welcome to submit auditions for our Fall Play, Silver's Secret. Auditions are due on Wednesday this week.

You can follow us on Facebook and Instagram @BentonWolverines.

Make it a great week!

6th Grade Social a Big Hit! 6th Grade Social a Big Hit!

zoom_out_map

Last Friday, ASB and W.E.B. students hosted a lunchtime social for our 6th grade students. It was a chance for our Leadership students to check in and ask how the first month of school has been going for our 6th graders. They ate lunch, played games, and ended the day with an Otter Pop for everyone. It was a great way to start the weekend!

I am a book hoarder. I love books and over the years have bought hundreds of books for my classroom. All of those books, as well as overflow from other teachers' libraries are up for grabs in our MPR. All Benton students, and their families are welcome to help themself to any books they want. They are free, and there is no limit. Whatever is not claimed by the end of September will be donated to whoever or whatever entity will take them. If you're a teacher (whether in NLM or not) please come by our MPR and help yourself. We have empty boxes to put them in!

Navigating Pick Ups and Drop Offs

If you click on the image to the left, you will find a helpful video on navigating school pick ups and drops offs. By following the guidelines in this video, traffic will move efficiently and the parking lot can be cleared out within 10 minutes. We encourage all parents to exercise a little patience, follow the guidelines, be respectful of traffic rules and our neighbors' driveways, and help us to keep students safe.
