The Howler Newsletter

Howler for the week of 9/28/2026
Happy Friday!
As the days get shorter and our morning drop-off time gets darker, please be cautious when driving around the school. Take your time, watch for students, and be mindful when dropping off your own children. We’ve had some parents reach out with concerns about people driving too fast or stopping abruptly on Adams Street to drop off their children. While we aren’t traffic cops, we do want our students to be safe when they are arriving to and leaving school. Let’s all work together to ensure our students’ safety!

Kindness Club
This is our Principal’s Kindness Club. At the end of each year, 6th grade teachers nominate 6th graders who have demonstrated kindness in and out of the classroom all year long. We just welcomed our new 7th graders this week who were nominated by their 6th grade teachers. We are also happy to welcome back an outstanding group of 8th grade leaders who will lead various kindness activities throughout the year.
FCS Hands-on-Learning
As we wrapped up hexter 1, our Family Consumer Sciences classes wrapped up some really fun hands-on learning! Our 6th grade Foods classes made chicken pesto last week, and our 8th grade Design Lab classes showed off their sewing and design projects!
Valas Visit
Our orchestra students headed to Vala’s this week for their annual Vala’s performance! They were grateful to catch a day without rain, had a great time, and gave a wonderful performance!
Positive Office Visits
We had more Positive Office Visits this week, and here are a few of them! We are so proud of all of our Wolverines for working hard and being kind every day!
Paws Note Winners
Teachers give PAWS Notes to students who are going above and beyond in the areas of SHARP (Safe, Honest, Achieving, Respectful, and Persevering.) Students can use their PAWS Notes to buy treats in the PAWS store. Each Thursday (starting this week), we randomly draw 9 students who have received PAWS Notes to get an extra treat. Here are our first PAWS Note drawing winners! Great work, kids! Keep being SHARP!
Playing With Food
Sometimes 8th graders still play with their food - especially when they’re giving a shout-out to one of their favorite lunch supervisors! Mrs. Grace connects with kids everywhere she goes - even cafeteria supervision! She’s amazing! (And don’t worry - they cleaned up after themselves!)
