Family Update
Davis Middle School
August 29, 2025
Happy Friday, Davis Families!
The first FULL week of the year was a great one! Students are settling in to their routine and classes are diving into content. MAP testing has started for our baseline scores for the start of the year. With such a full week, we decided to give the students their first incentive Friday for the school year. Each month, usually on the last Friday of the month, students will have a chance to earn the incentive time for their grade level. In order to earn this, students must have all of their work turned in, not have any behavior reports, and fulfill the requirements for their specific grade level. Each month brings a different activity planned by our team leads. It was fun to hear and see them enjoying the incentive today!
As a reminder, there will be no school on Monday for Labor Day. We will see everyone back on Tuesday! Have a great, long weekend.
Go Irish!
Jaime

Important Chromebook Information
Families are responsible for making a non-refundable, annual technology payment of $50. This fund is established to fund repairs in the event of accidental damage to a student’s Chromebook. If the tech fee is not paid, the full cost for any kind of repair will be the responsibility of the student’s family. If you haven’t already paid, please make the payment now at https://payschoolscentral.com.
Families who qualify for free or reduced meals will not be charged a tech fee or will be charged a reduced rate consistent with their federal benefits eligibility.
*If you think you may qualify for this benefit, please reach out to guidance secretary Laura Frazee (frazee_laura@dublinschools.net)*
The $50 annual technology fee includes accidental damage protection. This covers repairs caused by accidental damage to screens, keys, keyboards, broken hinges, and internal ports for power and headphones.

Spring 2026 8th Grade Washington, DC Trip
Incoming 8th Grade Families,
This is just a reminder that it is time to register your student with Prodigy Travel if they will be joining the Washington, DC trip in May. We have urged students who are interested to work to help with the cost of the trip...it may help them appreciate it that much more! Mowing, mulching or pulling weeds, raking leaves, and shoveling snow in the winter in the neighborhood are all good ways to get started.
Here is the link to all of the DC information including the Prodigy website to create an account, register for the trip, and make payments.
For families who were unable to attend the informational meeting last spring, we will be having another informational meeting on October 1 at 7:30PM in the DMS Commons.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Ms. Wilhelm, 8th grade team lead and DC advisor.

Counseling Corner
Onyx -- the Davis Support Pup
This year, several times a quarter, we will have the opportunity to have a support dog at Davis. Onyx is owned by counselor, Shanley O'Neil. Onyx is trained and very well behaved. He loves to receive lots of pets and has a knack of helping to calm and soothe when folks are feeling a bit anxious or upset. We are excited to have this opportunity for some of our students at Davis!
When we have a support dog in the building, he will always be on leash and with his handler when not in the main office area.
If you have any questions about the support dog at DMS, please reach out to Jaime (stewart_jaime@dublinschools.net) or Shanley (oneil_shanley@dublinschools.net). If you would like to give your student permission to visit with Onyx when when he is at school, please complete the questions below. You only need to fill this out if you would like your student to have this opportunity. If you do not want your student to interact with Onyx, please do not fill out the form below and we will know not to allow him to interact with your student in the office area. Thank you!

Breakfast/Lunch Information
Part of the back to school routine is making sure that your student has a current Pay Schools account for breakfast and lunch. You can also fill out the Free and Reduced Meal Application for your students. Apply online through PaySchools Central or use one of our printable forms (translated in multiple languages) to submit your information.
Meal Prices Add Up! Apply Now for Free/Reduced School Meals
Check a back-to-school box off your list by going ahead and filling out the Free and Reduced Meal Application for your students. Easily apply online through PaySchools Central.
Why apply?
It can lower or waive technology fees.
It connects families to additional resources and support.
It ensures your student gets a healthy meal at school every day.
It helps reduce or prevent meal account debt, which carries over from year to year.
Note: Students with negative meal account balances will receive a standard school meal, but they won’t be able to purchase extra (“a la carte”) items.
The Food Services team works closely with school principals to notify families and help manage account balances. Once a student’s meal charges reach $25 or more, you’ll receive automated phone calls as a reminder to add funds. Applying for Free & Reduced Meals is the best way to avoid accumulating a growing balance.
