The Bobcat Bulletin

Dear Bobcat Families,

Welcome back to the 2026–2027 school year! For those families I have not yet had the privilege of meeting, welcome to Buchanan Elementary School! We are excited to have you as part of our Bobcat family.

I hope you had a wonderful summer filled with time spent with friends and family and that everyone is rested, refreshed, and ready to begin another great year. Our faculty and staff have been working hard to prepare for the return of our students, and we can’t wait to get started! We look forward to a year filled with learning, growth and new experiences.

As we begin the new school year, please review these important arrival and safety reminders:

Car Rider Procedures
Cars should pass the north parking lot and make a loop in front of the school to access the designated car rider line. Please do not use the bus lot at any time during the school day. This area is strictly reserved for buses.

Children should never be dropped off in the bus lot or parking lot. If you are bringing your child to school, please use the designated car rider line. Parking spaces are reserved for faculty, staff, and visitors who have business in the front office.

Building Safety and Security
The safety and security of our students and staff remain a top priority. Families may not walk students to their classrooms during arrival. This procedure helps us maintain a secure building and ensures that we know who is in our school at all times. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work together to keep our Bobcats safe.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Buchanan Elementary is a special place because of our incredible students, dedicated staff, and supportive families. I am excited about all that we will accomplish together during the 2026–2027 school year.

At Buchanan Elementary, we want our Bobcats to grow not only as learners, but also as kind, courageous, and hardworking members of our school community. The Bobcat Way Award recognizes students who demonstrate the three core principles of The Bobcat Way: Be Kind. Have Courage. Work Hard.

Throughout the school year, our staff will look for students who put these principles into action. The Bobcat Way Award gives us an opportunity to celebrate students who make positive choices, support others, persevere through challenges, and help make Buchanan Elementary a wonderful place to learn and grow.

As you walk into our building, you may notice something new. Our front entrance has received a beautiful landscaping update! This welcoming new look would not have been possible without the support and generosity of our wonderful school community.

First and foremost, thank you to our families for your continued support of our PTA. Your participation in PTA fundraisers and activities helps make special projects like this possible. We are incredibly grateful to our PTA for funding the new landscaping and for continuing to find ways to make our school an even more welcoming place for our students, families, staff, and visitors.

We would also like to extend a special thank you to Jessica Montgomery, mom of Avery in first grade, who generously shared her time and talents to design the new landscaping.

The next time you walk through our front doors, take a moment to enjoy our beautiful new entrance. It is another wonderful example of what can happen when our Bobcat families and school community work together!

Our school received another beautiful update this summer! If you are walking between our upper and lower hallways near the front office, be sure to take a look at our wonderful new Bobcat mural.

A very special thank you goes to Heather Rivers, mom of Oliver in third grade and Adele and Gus in first grade. Heather once again generously donated her time and talents this summer to design and create this beautiful addition to our school.

We are so grateful to Heather for sharing her creativity with our school community. The mural brightens our hallways and provides our students with a wonderful reminder each day that it is always a great day to be a Bobcat!

Welcome back to a brand-new school year, Bobcat Family!

As we kick off another exciting year, we’re looking for easy ways to support our students and school projects—like purchasing the paint for our new school mural!

If you shop at Kroger, you can help us raise funds without spending an extra dime. Please consider enrolling (or re-enrolling) in the Kroger Community Rewards Program and selecting Buchanan Elementary School as your designated organization.
