Do you know a current Bandon staff member who has made a difference in your life, the life of a child, or to the community? It can be any employee: a teacher, or an educational assistant, a bus driver or a secretary or a food service worker, an administrator or a custodian. Our district is filled with great staff!

Visit our website at www.bandon.k12.or.us and click on the Bandon Distinguished Tiger Award Nomination Form link. Complete the fillable form, and add no more than one page to the form explaining why you believe this Bandon staff member deserves the Bandon Distinguished Tiger Award. Be persuasive! Give it your all! Tell us as many details as you can about the staff member and what makes them deserving of this award.

Crater Lake

Our students had an unforgettable adventure at Crater Lake National Park with Mr. Hatfield, Mr. Volk, and Dr. Dockery before the upcoming trail closure!

They explored the breathtaking beauty of the park while diving into hands-on science learning — from geology to ecology, and everything in between.

Mr. Hatfield, Ms. Carey, and Mrs. Siewell took a group of adventurous students on a fun-filled afternoon of kayaking and paddle boarding!

From paddling through calm waters to soaking up the sun and making unforgettable memories, it was an afternoon full of laughter, teamwork, and outdoor fun.

Huge thanks to our amazing staff for leading the charge and to our awesome students for bringing the energy and excitement!

Flag Pole

We proudly dedicated our new high school flag pole Friday — a project made possible through the generosity of Bandon American Legion Post 26 and the JTMF Foundation.

A heartfelt thank you to our CTE program for their hard work in creating the beautiful flag pole sign, and to the United States Coast Guard for honoring the event with a special flyover.

We are grateful to everyone who came together to make this meaningful addition to our campus possible!

Cell Phone Policy

As mandated by Governor Tina Kotek’s Executive Order 25-09 & updated District Policy JFCEB, all Oregon school districts must prohibit the use of personal electronic devices during the school day. Harbor Lights Middle School will implement a district-wide ban on student cell phones, smartwatches, and similar devices during school hours to promote student mental health, reduce distractions, and enhance learning outcomes.

Parent Vue

Please take the time to check your Parent Vue account on a regular bases. It is a great way to help your student(s) keep track of grades and assignments, as well as a convenient way to communicate with their teachers. You can access your account by clicking on the black bar above, or you can download the APP in your APP store so you can save your log in information and access your account quickly from your phone.

Student Handbook

All of our students should have signed a behavior agreement form that acknowledges that they have reviewed the student handbook, and know what the behavior expectations are at HLMS. We would appreciate it if you could take a moment to review the student hand book (link below) as well.

Please take some time to review our student handbook with your student. We would particularly like you to remind your student of our expectations with regards to cell phones and appropriate technology use.

This year, we are raising funds to support STEM education in our classrooms.
Our goal is to bring more Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math opportunities to our students through engaging, hands-on learning experiences.

We’re aiming to raise $15,000, which will help us:

  • Bring in OMSI (Oregon Museum of Science and Industry) for an exciting school-wide assembly

  • Purchase engineering and math kits for classroom use

  • Update classroom technology

  • Provide more hands-on science experiences for all students

With your support, we can inspire the next generation of thinkers, creators, and problem-solvers. Thank you for helping us bring STEM to life!
