A Message from the Principal

Dear Highlander Families:

Students interested in playing volleyball in January must complete a permission slip and turn it in by Thursday, December 18th. Students can get a permission slip from Mr.Visser or Mr.Foley. If your student will be getting an E-bike or E-Scooter as a holiday gift, you and your student need to attend one of the E-vehicle presentations. The next class is on Thursday, December 11th at 5:30pm at Beckman High School. Students who ride an E-Vehicle must attend this class in order to buy a permit and park on campus.

The last day of the first semester is Friday, December 19th. Teachers will be finalizing grades and submitting the semester grades for report cards that will be sent home in January. If your child needs help from their teachers, the time to do that is now. If they need assistance in Math 6, 7, or 8, please see the flyer in this newsletter for after school tutoring information.

Please stay connected to Hewes by checking our website and following us on Instagram @heweshighlanders for the latest information and news.

FACULTY FRIDAY FACULTY FRIDAY

Mr.Cervantes, Mrs.Gonzalez, Ms.Hua, Ms.Jabuka, Mr.Jennings, Ms.Lockman, Ms.Roman, Mrs.Stegall, and Mrs.Wongyai - What an amazing team that came together last night to make the Highlander Bazaar, Band, and Choir performances a success. It takes a dedicated group of teachers and staff to support our students in and out of the classroom. Thank you for stepping up and allowing our students to shine while quietly taking care of everything in the background. You are seen and appreciated.

Highlander for a Day is a recognition program at Hewes Middle School that celebrates students for incredible moments of Winning the Day the Highlander Way. Students are recognized for working hard, including others, never giving up, controlling their responses, choosing to act above the line, and taking extreme ownership of their 20 square feet. These are the habits and mindsets that shape our Highlander culture, and we are so proud to share them with our entire school community.
