May Update for Pekin Elementary
Empowering ALL students to excel, innovate and lead
Dear Pekin Families,
As we enter the final month of the school year, I want to take a moment to thank you for your continued partnership and support. May is one of the most exciting (and busiest!) times of the year at Pekin Elementary, and we want to make sure every student is here to take part in all of the meaningful experiences planned to wrap up our year together.
Throughout the month of May, we have so many special opportunities for students to learn, grow, and celebrate all that they’ve accomplished. From hands-on classroom activities and field trips to end-of-the-year assessments and transition events like step-up days, this month is designed to reinforce everything we’ve been working on and prepare students for a strong start next year.
We also want to recognize and celebrate our amazing teachers and staff during Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week, May 5th–9th. Our educators have poured their hearts into helping every student grow this year, and this is a perfect time to show them how much they are appreciated. If you’re looking for ideas, consider:
-
A handwritten note or picture from your child
-
A favorite drink or snack dropped off at school
-
A kind email or message of thanks
-
A small gift that reflects your gratitude
Even simple acts of kindness go a long way in lifting the spirits of our staff during this special week!
As we move toward the end of the school year, daily attendance remains incredibly important. Students need to be present to participate in end-of-year testing, classroom learning, and activities that support their academic and social growth. Please continue to communicate with your child’s teacher and our office about any absences. If your child needs to miss school, sending in a doctor’s note helps us keep accurate records and better support your family. Every day counts, especially now!
Thank you for being such a vital part of our school community. Let’s make these last few weeks of school the best yet by staying connected, showing appreciation, and encouraging students to finish the year strong. If you have any questions or need support, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
