Taking Stock: November 2025

November 2025
Stockwell Priorities
- To ensure our children are happy and we explain things well
- To ensure no child leaves our school unable to read
- To ensure children learn a broad vocabulary to access the world around them
- To enhance the educational experiences of diagnosed and undiagnosed children with SEND
We have a number of important events, celebrations, and activities scheduled in the coming weeks, so we encourage all families to check their calendars and stay up to date. It’s shaping up to be a fantastic finish to the term.
Anti‑Bullying Week took place from 11–15 November, and throughout the week our school engaged in a range of meaningful activities to help children understand and reflect on bullying, and, just as importantly, what bullying is not. Pupils took part in class discussions, role-play scenarios, poster-making, and collective assemblies emphasising respect, kindness, and inclusion. It’s vital that all children learn to recognise hurtful behaviours and know when something crosses the line. These lessons help them build empathy, assertiveness, and the confidence to speak up.
This year’s theme was “Power for Good”, and we encourage parents to continue these conversations at home: ask your child what kindness means to them, discuss what to do if they or someone else feels bullied, and reinforce the importance of standing up for each other — even in small everyday moments.
Some of the items have already arrived and are being put to great use in classrooms, and our teachers have updated the list with new items that would further enhance learning. Every little helps, and whether big or small, each donation is warmly appreciated. If you haven't already do so, please have a look by scanning the QR code below, or clicking the button.
A huge thank you to all the EYFS and KS1 parents who joined us for our recent Parent Drop-In. It was wonderful to see so many of you in the classrooms, taking part in the activities with such enthusiasm. The children were delighted to share their learning with you, and it was lovely to watch the positive interactions and excitement across the phases.
Our next Parent Drop-In will take place on Thursday 18th December, with a focus on Reading. We look forward to welcoming you again and sharing more of the fantastic learning taking place in our school.
Our termly Enterprise event was once again a fantastic celebration of creativity, teamwork, and entrepreneurial spirit. In the week leading up to the event, children worked in their classes to design and refine their own products, planning everything together. On the day, they collaborated brilliantly to make, and sell their creations, proudly sharing the results of their hard work with the school community. A huge thank-you to all the parents and carers who came along to support the children; your enthusiasm and encouragement made the event even more special and helped inspire our young entrepreneurs to shine.
The class assemblies this term have been a wonderful celebration of the children’s hard work and learning. Each assembly has given pupils the chance to showcase what they’ve been exploring in class while also providing a valuable opportunity to practise and develop their oracy skills: speaking clearly, confidently, and proudly in front of an audience. We are grateful to all the parents and carers who joined us and supported the children during these special moments. Your presence means so much.
We are now looking forward with excitement to the EYFS Nativity and the KS1 Winter Play in the coming weeks, which promise to be highlights of the festive season.
Sports Update
The Year 3/4 football team delivered an outstanding performance at this year’s inter-school tournament, securing an impressive 3rd place finish out of 20 competing schools. The squad showed determination, teamwork and resilience throughout the day, consistently demonstrating strong defence and fast, confident attacking play. Their success marks one of the team’s best results in recent years and reflects the hard work put in during training.
One of the standout performers was Elijah, who lit up the tournament with his sharp footwork and clinical finishes. He scored an incredible seven goals in just five games, proving to be a constant threat to every defence he faced. His contributions were vital to the team’s overall success and earned him praise from coaches, teammates and spectators alike.
The school’s football success has continued into the league season, with the boys’ team currently sitting 3rd after five matches, having won three, lost one and drawn one. Their strong start reflects the same energy and discipline shown in the recent tournament. The girls’ team has also begun its campaign with confidence, earning a well-fought-out draw and an impressive win this month, signalling a promising season ahead for both squads.

A Whole School Approach to Anti Bullying and Safety
Defined as “ongoing hurtful behaviour towards someone online”, cyber-bullying makes its victims feel upset, uncomfortable and unsafe. In the digital world, it has numerous forms – such as hurtful comments on a person’s posts or profile; deliberately leaving them out of group chats; sharing embarrassing images or videos of someone; or spreading gossip about them. Cyber-bullying can severely impact a young person’s mental health … so, in support of Anti-Bullying Week, we’ve provided a list of tips to help trusted adults know what to look for and how to respond to it.
In the guide from the National College, you'll find tips such as playing online games with your child, talking about your child’s online life and being prepared to listen without showing any judgement or criticism.
Parent and Carer Support
Friends of Stockwell (FOS) PTA
We have an active PTA, called Friends of Stockwell, who do a brilliant job of fundraising for the school and bringing the community together. It is great to see new faces taking part. Every parent is a Friend of Stockwell. I ask that everyone gets involved. If you can spare an hour per term (that's three hours per year), your contribution would make a huge difference.
Please email friendsofstockwell@gmail.com to get involved.
Our PTA recently hosted a fantastic Movie Night, which was enjoyed by children across the school and raised an impressive £387! Every penny of this money goes directly back to supporting activities, resources, and experiences for our pupils, helping to enrich their school life.
We are extremely grateful for all the support, but the PTA can always use more helping hands—if you are able to volunteer, your time and energy make a huge difference.
Looking ahead, we warmly invite all parents and carers to come and support the upcoming Winter Fair on Friday 5th December, another wonderful opportunity to celebrate our school community and contribute to the children’s experiences.
We are often asked how parents and carers can support the school. We have worked with the school to create an Amazon Wish List to enable parents, carers, friends and family members to buy items that the school really needs.
If you are in a position to support the school in this way, please have a look through, and if you see something you would like to buy, just follow the same process as you would if you were ordering something for yourself. Items will be delivered directly to the school, marked for the attention of the relevant teacher.
Call to Action
Can you help out around the school? Are you a keen gardener? Do you have skills or knowledge that the children would benefit from? Visit our Call to Action page to let us know how you can help.
Attendance
Central to raising standards in all schools and ensuring all pupils can fulfil their potential is the need for children to attend school regularly to benefit from their education.
There is a strong link between good learning, high achievement, rapid progress and developing good social skills with excellent attendance.
We want to take this opportunity to outline our expectations for school attendance this academic year.
If your child arrives at school from 9am they will be marked as LATE, if they arrive after 9.30am, they will be classed as “late after the register is closed” and their attendance is classed as absent for the morning session. As the registers would have already been returned to the Department for Education.
Regular poor punctuality can also have a negative effect on your child’s attendance as well as their academic learning. Being 6 minutes late each day equals 30 minutes of missed learning every week.
If your child’s attendance drops below 90%, we will need to share our concerns with the Local Authority Education Welfare Officer at Lambeth Council.
Holidays in Term Time
Education Law states that it is not a parent’s right to take a child out of school during term time to go on holiday. Families must seek permission from the school and your school’s Headteacher is limited in what they can authorise. We can authorise leave if a child is in a performance and a performance license has been granted by the local authority. For any other authorised holiday, there must be extenuating circumstances therefore we cannot authorise a holiday because it is cheaper outside of term time.
Attendance Winners
Well done everyone; we have maintained our high standard of attendance.
November's attendance was 95%
Let's see if we can end the term with just as good a track record!

RB - 91%

4T - 97%

School Uniform
School uniform should be worn throughout the school day. While we do not enforce that all school uniform should be branded, children should be wearing the correct colours (white t-shirt tops, navy trousers/ skirts/ pinafore dresses, sensible black shoes). Football boots/ coloured trainers are not school uniform and should not be worn.
Children should be changing into their PE kits for PE lessons (blue or black tracksuit bottoms, plain white t-shirt, trainers). We have made arrangements for girls and boys to be able to change separately, so the expectation is that all children change for PE.
While our supplier of school uniform is WearAbouts, we do have some items available for sale from the school office. Please check with us to see if we have what you need in stock.
Reporting a Concern
If you have a concern, please see your child's class teacher in the first instance.
If they are unable to resolve the problem, please speak to your child's phase leader.
If they are unable to help, please see one of the school's Assistant Headteachers.
If you are still dissatisfied, please see the Head of School.

We have an engagement hub with a specific page focused on what we can do to improve public safety for women and girls which asks residents and visitors to tell us where in Lambeth they feel safe and unsafe by placing a pin on the Map. Please sign up for email updates about the project using the ‘follow’ button on the new site.
Fostering in Lambeth
A new child comes into care every day in Lambeth. Many of these children will need the love and stability that a foster carer can provide.
What is fostering?
Being a foster parent means caring for someone else’s child as part of your family. Foster carers look after children who are unable to live with their parents, through no fault of their own. You'll be given lots of training and support, as well as allowances to cover living costs, the costs of food, travel and for the time you'll need to invest in supporting any child in your care.
Who can foster?
Lambeth Fostering welcome applications from everyone with a passion for caring. You just need to be over 21, have a spare room, good written and spoken English, and permanent UK residency.
