April 17, 2025

Hello Barrington Families;

The sun is shining, the air is warming up and the peepers are in full swing. This is such a glorious time of the year! We are a week away from our spring break and I hope that you are all able to spend some extra time with your kiddos during that time exploring and enjoying everything that New England has to offer. Or, perhaps you are venturing outside of New England?? Either way, enjoy the week!

When we return from break we will have about 6 ½ weeks remaining in the school year. This is an extremely busy time of the year as we jump into end of year assessments and start to participate in year end transitions and other activities. It is extremely important that we all try to be as consistent as possible in order to smoothly and successfully close out the school year. Please help us by keeping routines as consistent as possible. We all benefit from structure! A good night’s sleep and a solid breakfast go a long way to keeping us at our best throughout the school day.

In case you missed it, please watch this quick video regarding spring assessments. Your support and encouragement makes all the difference. Spring Testing.mov

Snow Days and the Current School Calendar:

At the April 15, 2025 School Board meeting the official date was set for the 8th grade Celebration. We will be honoring our 8th graders on the evening of June 17, 2025 on the soccer field (weather permitting). Be on the lookout for additional details directly from the Middle School.

Given our 2 snow days the tentative last day of school is Wednesday, June 18, 2025. Reminder, the Barrington School District recognizes Juneteenth so there will be no school on Thursday, June 19, 2025. Please do not schedule camps and vacations just yet! May can still produce some significant weather (remember the floods?) so we are not quite ready to set the definitive last day of school.

Repeated Information:

Are you looking for some family fun or do you have a competitive edge yourself? Consider joining the Barrington Community at the 2025 Peeper 5K race on May 3rd at 9am. New this year will be a Tadpole race for the little ones and don’t forget the Family Fun Day activities that take place from 9am -3pm. Not only is this a great time, the proceeds fund scholarships for our post secondary students. Check out the flyer for more information. 2025 Peeper Flyer.pdf

Residency Paperwork:

On December 5, 2023 the School Board Updated Policy JFA - Residency. The District will be requiring proof of residency as well as an Affidavit and Bus Form at the following intervals:

1) Upon enrollment in the District

2) Prior to the completion of 4th grade

3) Prior to the completion of 8th grade

4) Annually during each year of high school

If your child falls into one of the above grades please complete the required paperwork promptly. We thank you for your cooperation.

For future planning, here is the approved 2025/2026 School District Calendar .

Curriculum and Instruction Curriculum and Instruction

Good Afternoon Barrington Families,

During the month of May students will begin end of year testing for iReady and SAS. State tests (SAS) are used for accountability and to provide important information for program decision making, support for all learners, and ensuring quality instruction. Federal regulations mandate all school districts must have 95% participation in the SAS testing each year. The NH SAS results play a crucial role in measuring academic progress and in shaping our district’s federal and state ratings as well as our funding sources and district budget. When students opt-out of the NH SAS, it impacts our national and state academic achievement and growth scores, as the federal government factors these opt-outs as zeroes in district evaluations.

The Social Studies Committee for grades K - 4 will finish the standards (C3 standards) document with learning progressions during our April meeting. We will continue our work in May and June to complete the lessons, projects, and themes that we currently teach in the learning progressions. This will allow us to see what gaps we have in our instruction and to address those over the summer.

The Evaluation Committee met for two years to build a new consistent supervision and evaluation model for the district, which we implemented this year. The committee felt strongly that teacher supervision should be an opportunity for teachers to learn and grow as well as build a community of trust, encourage self-reflection, and empower students and teachers to achieve their goals. We landed on using PowerSchool Perform as our tool for accessibility and consistency, the Marshall Rubrics for strong research-based classroom and professional practices, a coaching model that supports professional growth and improves teacher performance, and the mini observation structure in order to capture unabridged teaching in action.

Hello Barrington Families.

The New Student Online Registration for the 2025/2026 school year is now open. I am re-sending last month's message about online student registration, as the changes are important for emergency contact management going forward.

open_in_new zoom_out_map

In the Parent/Guardian and Emergency Contact Information section there are a few new options. We recommend 5 contacts but if you do not have 5, that's OK, they are not required.

You now have the ability to indicate which contacts should receive School Messenger notifications.

PowerSchool has also added a Contact Priority selection. Here you can indicate which contacts should be contacted first in the event of an emergency.

The link that is posted on the website is for NEW 25/26 (next fall) registrations only.

.

      ***IMPORTANT***

If your student is already enrolled in the Barrington School District, you will be sent a link via email to verify/review your registration information the second week in August.

      • For NEW 2024/2025 (current school year) registration, please contact the school below.

Facilities Facilities

Hello Barrington Families,

As we transition into spring, our Facilities Department has been back at preparing our buildings and grounds for warmer weather. The Facilities Department has been focusing on inspections and preventative maintenance. HVAC systems are being prepped for the upcoming spring and summer season. We have taken care of the buildings with diligent cleaning and disinfecting over the winter months. Hopefully it is time to open some windows and let that fresh spring air in.

Spring field prep is underway with lining the fields for spring sports, getting irrigation up and running and prepping mowers for another season.

Remnants of the winter are being cleared. Including swales, storm drains, blowing

sand and salt off needed areas. The winter equipment is being serviced and ready for summer storage.

The BMS sign has been finished, we will get electricity to it and put loam and seed around it for the finishing touches.

Best,
