St Anthony's School News

Week 7 - Thursday 21st November 2024
Principal's Message
As we come to the end of the Church Liturgical year with the celebration of the Solemnity of Christ the King let us pray:
God our Loving Good Shepherd,
enfold us in your love and compassion at the end of this year.
Help us each day to live the Gospel and to see Christ in all we meet,
especially those who need our help.
Bring us the joy of knowing that in small ways
we can embody your justice and hope in the world.
We make this prayer through Jesus, your Son who is present with us always. Amen
As we head into the final weeks of school for students, please remember the following important school events:

Friday, 29th November - End of year whole school mass - 9am
Tuesday, 3rd December - Year 6 surfing

SCHOOL ADVISORY COUNCIL and P&F AGMs
Thank you to all those who took time out of their busy schedules to attend Tuesday night’s ACMs. These are an important part of both groups reporting back to the community about the activities undertaken during the year.
I would like to thank the members of the Advisory Council for their guidance throughout the year. I especially acknowledge Simon O’Leary, Megan Walker and Eleanor Chappell who have served the Council faithfully all year; Sarah Brandis who has represented the P&F on the Council and Jenny Rae as the Parish representative. I also commend Anthony Augustin who stepped down from the Council mid-year having contributed many years of service.
Congratulations to Nicki Francis who won this year’s ACM lucky door prize.
Important fees information from the Advisory Council report on the 2025 Budget includes:
PRE-KINDERGARTEN (3 YEAR OLD PROGRAM)
Running 2 sessions a week from the beginning of the year. If 1 session is attended for the week, the fee is $70/week; however, if both sessions are attended the fee is discounted to $120/week.
KINDERGARTEN TO YEAR 6
To continue our support of the school community there has been an increase to fees in 2025 but only on the lower end of what was recommended by CEWA.
Booklists have been added to the Amenity fees which allows the school to buy in bulk and have all student requirements from the start of the year. It saves parents and carers the hassle of purchasing before Christmas and bringing it all in on the first days of Term 1. $50 for Kindergarten and $100 for Pre-Primary to Year 6.
P&F AGM
To the P&F Executive: Sarah Brandis, Dee O’Leary, Eleanor Chappell and Paige Griffiths (seconded) and the many class representatives who formed working groups to assist with P&F activities and fundraising, thank you for the many hours of hard work you have put into ensuring each event went off smoothly and for the fun activities you planned for the children.
Congratulations to Eleanor Chappell (Chairperson) and Paige Griffiths (Treasurer) who have been elected to the committee. Dee O’Leary continues in her role as Vice Chair. I look forward to another fun year working with you.
STAFFING 2025
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the wonderful staff of St Anthony’s as you have all continued to provide energy, enthusiasm, can-do attitudes and dedication to the tasks given - embodying all the PADUA Values and demonstrating how we live the St Anthony’s Way.

KISS & DRIVE PROTOCOLS
The purpose of the 'Kiss & Drive' in both car parks is to speed up the flow of cars in line waiting to drop off or pick up their children. This then reduces congestion along Servite Terrace and at the round-about on Dundebar Drive.
When parents leave the driver's seat to open the car boot to take bags out or need to release children from car seats it holds up the flow of traffic.
If you need to leave your seat to assist your children into or out of the car or you need to get their bags out of the car boot, please be courteous and considerate of others by parking in the parking bays available in both car parks.
God Bless
Therese Bandy

We would like to remind families that St Anthony's is an allergy aware school. Therefore, for the health and safety of children and staff with allergies, peanut butter, Nutella, nuts and muesli bars containing nuts are not to be included in your child’s lunch.

SEQTA Engage for Reports
St Anthony’s School utilises the SEQTA Engage Parent Portal for parents to access student reports for students in Kindy to Year 6 at the end of the year. If you have not already done so, please log in to SEQTA Engage to ensure you are able to access your child's report.
To do this you need to go to the following site: SEQTA Engage and use your current username and password. This link is also found on the homepage of the school website under Quick Links.
If you have remembered your username but have forgotten your password, please click on the "Forgot your Password?" link and an immediate email will be sent to you. The password reset link in the email will expire within one hour, so please action this immediately.
If you have forgotten both of these, then please contact the school and we can remind you of your username.
Reports will be available from Wednesday 4th December via the portal.
Thank you
Kate Gellé
Sun Safe Procedure 🌞
As we head into summer, it’s crucial for our students to practice sun safety both at school and at home. We have updated our Sun Smart procedure to ensure everyone stays protected from harmful UV rays. You can find the detailed procedure on our school website by clicking on the button below. Please take a moment to review it and discuss sun safety with your children. Let’s work together to keep our students safe and healthy this summer!
Stay sun smart and enjoy the sunshine responsibly!
Wellbeing on the School Website
We know how important wellbeing is to learning. At the start of the year, we asked for input regarding wellbeing at St Anthony's. One of the key learnings from that questionnaire was that everyone in the school community wasn't aware of the initiatives that are in place at St Anthony's. We have invested effort over the year into sharing some of the ways we support wellbeing through the newsletter, school assemblies and Seesaw. Another way we hope to do this going forward, is through a dedicated "Wellbeing" page on our school website. Please have a look Wellbeing – St Anthony's Wanneroo
St Anthony's School community works collaboratively to teach and live the values of Christ. While respecting tradition, and to meet the demands of a rapidly changing society, it strives to educate our children to their full potential.
School Code of Conduct
A reminder that every member of the St Anthony’s School community must behave in the manner described in our Code of Conduct.
Our Code is like the 40km/h speed limit outside our school in the mornings and afternoons. It defines behaviours that keep our students safe: at school, and elsewhere. Children and young people surrounded by adult and peer behaviours as outlined in the Code are more likely to recognise and choose healthy relationships for themselves.
Conduct Statements
- You act safely and competently.
- You give priority to students’ safety and well-being in all your behaviour and decision making.
- You act in accordance with the values of the Gospel as defined in the Code of Ethical Conduct.
- You conduct yourself in accordance with laws, agreements, policies and standards relevant to your relationship with the school community.
- You respect the dignity, culture, values and beliefs of each member of the school community.
- You treat personal information about members of the school community as private and confidential.
- You give impartial, honest and accurate information about the education, safety and well-being of students.
- You support all members of the school community in making informed decisions about students.
- You promote and preserve the trust and privilege inherent in your relationship with all members of the school community.
- You maintain and build on the community’s trust and confidence in Catholic schools and the Church.
- You act reflectively and ethically.
- You allow students to have a voice in their education, safety and well-being
The Code describes the minimum requirements expected of all members of our community and that all in our community conduct themselves personally and professionally in a way that maintains public trust and confidence in our school and the Church. While mandatory language such as ‘must’, ‘shall’ and ‘will’ is not used throughout the Code, there is a presumption the conduct described is mandatory and therefore not optional.

The survey asks the name of the student, but if you prefer not to share this information, simply enter "N/A" in that field.
Your input will help us create safer routes for our students. The survey will be open from 4th November to 1st December.
