Principal's Message
Happy Friday Cougar Families!
A major goal of ours is to maximize daily attendance and reduce chronic absenteeism (defined as missing 10% or more of school days). We are committed to working closely with our community to highlight the importance of consistent attendance and to support students and families when challenges arise. Together, we built a tiered system of support designed to connect with families and help students stay engaged in school.
Throughout the year, we closely monitor our progress, and have celebrated the success of the past handful of years as we have experienced progress in these areas and exceeded our goals. Early data from this school year shows a slight regression from last year. We want to use this first data point as a reminder of how important consistent daily attendance is and how disruptive frequent absences can be to a studentโs learning progress.
Every school day matters. Consistent daily attendance gives students the opportunity to stay connected, keep up with their learning, and make the most of the many opportunities available to them at Steele Canyon. Please communicate with your grade level team if you, your student, or your family is experiencing challenges. We have experts in this area and can provide the wraparound supports needed to remove the barriers you may be experiencing.
Lastly, as we mark the 25th anniversary of September 11, we pause to remember the lives lost and honor the courage, compassion, and unity that emerged in the days that followed. May we continue to carry forward the importance of caring for one another and standing together as a community.
Rah! Rah! Cougars!

'Til Death Do Us Part
You are invited to the most offbeat wedding of the season, where murder takes center stage and all the guests are suspects. Neither the groom's parents nor the bride's former boyfriend want the marriage to happen. The family lawyer has a little something up his sleeve and it might involve an enigmatic guest who dies mysteriously before revealing who she really is. When the lawyer is also murdered, amateur sleuth Miss Peabody conducts an investigation punctuated by the traditional wedding events in which the audience can also participate, such as throwing the bouquet, cutting of the cake, and dancing. But each moment brings Miss Peabody a step closer to the identity of a ruthless killer consumed by greed. With the audience's help in finding clues during intermission, all but the killer will live happily ever after.
Come be the best sleuth in town on September, 24th, at 6:30 pm. Tickets are $20 per seat, dinner will be included.
College Visits
College visits are being scheduled for the next two months. All representatives will be presenting in the Counseling Office and students will be given a pass to come in on the day and time they have signed up for. The flyer only includes some college representatives coming in this month. To view a list of all the college visits please click on the link to the Google Form.

Drive Safe - the Cougar Way
Friendly reminder to please drive cautiously when entering and exiting campus. Our Campus Supervisors are here to help keep traffic moving safely and efficiently, and we appreciate your cooperation in following all directions from security personnel. When approaching the school from east Campo Road, please do not drive on the shoulder and allow vehicles to merge into the right-turn lane just before the school entrance. When waiting in traffic lines, please โclose the gapโ so we can accommodate as many vehicles as possible entering and exiting campus. Please also note that vehicle access at the back of the school is not available during the school day. Thank you for your patience and partnership in keeping our campus safe.
