Wild Adventures at Lake Tobias
On April 29th, our 7th graders enjoyed an exciting field trip to Lake Tobias Wildlife Park! Highlights included a special presentation at the Reptile House and an unforgettable Safari Bus Tour where students got up close with exotic animals. It was a fun-filled day of learning and adventure for all!
First Grade Field Trip Blooms at Hershey Gardens
The first-grade classes had a memorable spring adventure during their recent field trip to Hershey Gardens. With the sun shining and flowers in full bloom, students spent the day exploring the beauty of nature and diving into hands-on learning experiences.
The students enjoyed strolling through the vibrant gardens, where they observed a wide variety of colorful flowers and plants. They also had the opportunity to get their hands dirty by planting potatoes, learning firsthand what it takes to grow a garden. In another fun and educational activity, students created plant necklaces to help them understand the process of germination—watching tiny seeds begin to sprout right before their eyes!
One of the highlights of the day was a visit to the Butterfly Atrium, where students walked among fluttering butterflies and marveled at their delicate wings and vivid colors. It was a beautiful day filled with discovery, laughter, and learning. The first graders returned with new knowledge, fond memories, and a deepened appreciation for the wonders of nature.

The New PA Project team attended all three lunch periods, connecting with many students and encouraging them to make their voices heard.
Exploring Careers: 6th Grade Showcase and 5th Grade Scavenger Hunt
As part of their career education unit, 6th grade students researched a profession of their choice and created a presentation that included a slide deck and a poster. This week, they proudly displayed their posters for 5th grade students during a gallery walk.
While exploring the displays, 5th graders participated in a scavenger hunt, searching for careers that required specific skills, tools, or levels of education. They also had the chance to ask questions and learn about the aspirations of their older peers.
Prizes will be awarded for both student pick and teacher’s choice for best 6th grade poster, as well as to the 5th grader who excelled in the scavenger hunt. Next year, the current 5th graders will have the opportunity to complete this exciting unit themselves!
TRU Students Advocate for Vaping Law Reform at State Capitol
On Tuesday, May 6, the 7th and 8th grade members of TRU (Tobacco Resistance Unit) traveled to the Pennsylvania State Capitol to advocate for changes to current vaping laws. During their visit, students had the opportunity to meet with the Chief of Staff for Senator Kim and present their proposals. Their message emphasized shifting the focus from penalizing teens to holding accountable those who sell or market tobacco products to minors. They also advocated for support programs to help teens quit, rather than issuing fines. This visit was part of a statewide initiative promoting lung health and youth advocacy.
