"Preparing students for success in an ever-changing world."

Hello Mustang Nation,

I hope everyone enjoyed the extended weekend and the relatively warm weather we experienced today. It does feel as though we have turned the corner and are heading toward a rapidly approaching Spring season.

We appreciate the patience and understanding of all students, parents, families, and community members as we worked as quickly as possible to achieve safety and resolution on Friday morning on the MHS campus. A special thank you to the Waterboro Fire Department, and other agencies, for their timely response to our request for service. I am also incredibly proud of our students and staff who remained composed and attentive as we shifted and adjusted this morning. The Waterboro F.D. was ultimately able to resolve the issue and the campus has been cleared for us to resume our operations. We look forward to welcoming students and staff back to campus on Monday morning. Because of the school cancellation on Friday we have adjusted a few deadlines (listed below):

  • Monday, March 10, 2025 is a WHITE Day in our rotation.

  • The Course Selection Sheets deadline has been extended to the end of the day on Tuesday, March 11.

  • Progress Report #1 for Semester 2 has been extended to Wednesday, March 26 - Progress Reports will be available by Wednesday, April 2.

March Madness:

Last March, despite some key injuries to an aging staff team, our school experienced great success in terms of school culture with the March Madness Dodgeball Tournament coordinated by the Class of 2025. The Class Officers, along with Mrs. Pellegrino and Mrs. Proctor, are working on coordinating another tournament for our students and staff to enjoy. The timeline for the tournament is projected to be longer than last year due to a decrease in our Mustang Time block. Please tentatively mark your calendars - with confirmation of dates to be publicized this week, for the week of March 24, the week of March 31, and a few days during the week of April 7 for a slate of games to be played. When these dates are confirmed we will communicate the parameters of the tournament, eligibility requirements for students to participate and attend, and any scheduling adjustments that may be needed (most likely dropping homeroom on the days we are hosting games to be able to add that ten minutes to our Mustang Time block). I have not inquired with the all staff team from last year, although it is likely we won't jump in this time around to ensure we maintain unbroken, un-wrenched knees, and un-pulled muscles/tendons. It would be great to have an all staff team (or two) if you are up to it!

As a reminder, our upcoming week will follow the Green/White color rotation schedule below:

Monday 03/10 - WHITE

Tuesday 03/11 - GREEN

Wednesday 03/12 - WHITE (ERD)

Thursday 03/13 - GREEN

Friday 03/14 - WHITE

Take care,

-Mr. Thurlow
