Semester 2 begins Monday, January 27th Semester 2 begins Monday, January 27th

Monday, January 27th is the first day of semester 2. Students and parents may log in to Skyward to view semester 2 schedules. If you are not able to view schedules in Skyward, it is most likely because the required district forms in the 2025 Update have not been completed for this year. Once the Update has been completed, you should be able to view schedules in Skyward.

Students should report to their 1st period class as normal; the office will not be printing paper copies of schedules for everyone. For most students, only their specialist class and maybe enhancement class have changed. Teachers are able to view student schedules if your child needs a reminder of where to go on Monday, and may print a copy if needed.

Report cards

Semester 1 report cards will be processed and mailed out around February 7th. You may view student grades in Skyward as well.

Facts about the Replacement Levy Facts about the Replacement Levy

zoom_out_map

Each week in their weekly newsletter, the district will be counting down the top 10 facts about the upcoming replacement education and operations levy for Battle Ground Public Schools. Here are a couple of the facts that will be featured in the next weeks, as well as a link to view more information about this important replacement levy.

Fact #3 The levy would provide funding for programs and services that affect students in every BGPS school.

Fact #4 The levy would pay for things that the state doesn’t fully fund. These include student safety, busing, special education, curriculum, mental health support, nursing/health services, sports, the arts and more.

Fact #5 The costs of supporting students and operating schools are increasing.

Head over to the district website for lots more information about the levy.

Boundary exception renewals - letters of intent Boundary exception renewals - letters of intent

BGPS began accepting in-district boundary exception request applications on January 10th, for students living within the BGPS boundary, but wishing to attend a school other than their resident neighborhood school. Applications will be considered in the order received. Please be sure to renew your boundary exception for next year or notify your school if you will not be attending there in the fall. Boundary exceptions must be renewed every year.

Students who live outside Battle Ground Public Schools boundaries and wish to transfer to a school within the district need to begin the process at their resident district. Out of district boundary applications will be accepted starting May 1st at 7am.

Current Battle Ground students who live outside the district may submit a letter of intent to attend a Battle Ground school beginning Jan. 10, but must still submit a choice transfer form to the student’s home district on May 1st at 7 am.

Click this link to navigate to the BGPS boundaries webpage for more information and links to forms.

Please upload any photos of your students here from school. Sports photos, Halloween, field trips, Red and Green Games, 8th grade baby photos, band, after school activities. Every year there is a baby photo section for the 8th grade students in the yearbook. • Students will need to remain inside the gym while they are on campus.
  • All attendees should exhibit good sportsmanship and follow school expectations for behavior.

Requirements for middle/primary school students attending athletic events at District Stadium

  • As of September 1, 2023 any primary or middle student attending athletic events at District Stadium must be accompanied by an adult age 18 or older who will be responsible for the student(s) for the duration of the event. Life threatening health condition/allergy

If your student has a life threatening medical condition/allergy, we must have updated health information each year as well as medication at school forms for any rescue medications that need to be kept at the nurse's office at school. Parents and nurses work together to create an Emergency Action Plan (EAP) for what to do for your child in the case of a medical emergency. Please contact our nurses if your student has a life threatening medical condition/allergy and you have not already alerted the school and had an EAP created. Students and parents will need to meet with nurses before a student may self-carry any rescue medications.

Updating contact and health information

Parents/guardians please make sure you are updating the School Health Form in Skyward each year so that we have correct and current information regarding your child/ren (complete the "Update" in Skyward Family Access. Update opens August 1st each year to update school forms.). Skyward does not pull information forward each school year. There are many School Health Forms that have not been updated for 2-4 years. We need current information and this is how we most often know if your child has a Life threatening health condition. We want to keep your child/ren safe while at school and we can't do our job if we do not have correct and updated information.

Thank you for your time in this important matter.

From your School Nurse Janel Salisbury, BSN, RN & Building Nurse Diane Davis, LPN

  • Stay home if running a fever or experiencing other symptoms of illness. See our guidelines for keeping children home from school for more information.

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Cover coughs and sneezes. Use a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash and wash your hands.
  • Clean and disinfect objects and surfaces that are frequently touched.

Report, don’t repost

If you see or hear of a possible threat, please report it to law enforcement directly and/or to school staff. This is the best and most helpful action because it begins an investigation and helps to limit the potential for misinformation to spread.

Reposting or sharing a threat on social media in an attempt to warn others spreads the threat farther from its original source and may cause unnecessary alarm and fear.

The FCRC is a continuation of the district’s joint efforts with the Battle Ground Education Foundation, an all-volunteer, nonprofit community organization whose purpose is to leverage community resources to help maintain quality education for all students in Battle Ground schools.
