Thank you Mrs. Haught and Mrs. Pearson for allowing FCCLA students to sell concessions at the Cheyenne Showcase. We took a portion of our proceeds and bought food to restock our Cheyenne Food Pantry! Thanks especially to Anabia, Vera and Hallie for helping sell concessions at the shows!

Thanksgiving Food Drive

Starting Monday, November 9th through Friday, November 13th, we will be having our annual Thanksgiving Food Drive. Every item collected goes directly to local families. We are asking for non-perishable items like granola bars, boxed mac and cheese, pancake mix, and canned goods. Plus, this is an advisory competition! Talk to your class, bring in those items starting November 9th, and let’s see which advisory class can collect the most food. Let's make a difference together!

Dear Cheyenne Middle School Parents,

We are writing to clarify the importance of timely attendance at school. Advisory and Mania are a critical part of our students' instructional time, and we need your support to ensure all students are present and ready to learn when the bell rings at 7:35 am. Our school building opens at 7:10 am for students’ breakfast and/or reporting to the GYM. When the bell rings at 7:35 am, students are documented as tardy for attendance or absent if missing 15 or more minutes of Advisory.

  • Timely Arrival is Key: Please plan to have your student dropped off and in the building well before 7:35 AM. This ensures they can get to their assigned Advisory/Mania location on time each day. Between 7:10 am and 7:34 am, students can eat breakfast, drop off items for fine arts, and cash in Lasso Loot before attending Advisory or Mania.

  • Late Arrival Protocol on Mustang Mania Days (Wednesday and Thursday): Students who arrive at school after the 7:34 AM bell will not be permitted to go to their scheduled Mania class. They will instead be redirected to the Gym or Cafeteria to complete a reflection assignment focused on the importance of being in their Mania class, punctuality, and identifying barriers to arriving on time. This also includes students who are in the hallways or wandering the building.

Please understand that Advisory and Mania are considered instructional minutes and a formal class.

  • Attendance Counts: Just like any other core subject, a student's attendance in Advisory/Mania is officially recorded and does count against their overall attendance record. Consistent tardiness or absence affects their academic standing.

  • Valuable Learning: Mania is not an elective; it's a vital time slot dedicated to student growth and success. The school uses this time for many important activities, including:

  • Academic Support: Study hall and remediation opportunities, College and Career Interests, Projects and Planning.

  • Middle Schooler Skills: Growth Mindset and social interaction skills, and communication development

  • Community Building: Important school-wide activities and community-building initiatives.

Attendance matters every single day, and Advisory/Mania is no exception. Students who arrive late miss out on crucial school practices, instruction, preparation, and community connection that set the tone for the rest of the school day.

We ask that you help your student establish a consistent, punctual morning routine to ensure they can make the most of this valuable learning period.

Thank you for your partnership in making Cheyenne Middle School a success.

Sincerely,

The Cheyenne Middle School Administration

Washington DC Trip This Spring

We're planning an incredible trip to Washington, D.C. next Spring for 7th and 8th graders, and we would LOVE for your child to join and experience this with us!

There are fundraising, scholarship opportunities and payment plans to help make paying for the trip easy and affordable. Registering early gives you longer to pay off the trip. WorldStrides, the company we travel with, even offers an Advantage Payment Plan, where you can make monthly payments until the trip is paid off.

Additionally, WorldStrides, offers FLAG Scholarship and financial assistance to students who qualify. There are students every year who receive between $100 and $300 towards the cost of their trip! Make sure to take advantage of this!
Join us at our trip information meeting:

📅 Date: Wednesday, November 4
⏰ Time: 5:30
Location: Room 201

Before we meet, take a sneak peek at our trip website to see the incredible experiences awaiting us!
https://myprogram.worldstrides.com/custom/2027-cheyenne-ms-dc-228364/

This is going to be a really great trip, and it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity for your child!
Looking forward to seeing you at our meeting. If you have questions or can't make it, email me at thomas.morris@edmondschools.net.

Cheyenne Food Pantry

Hi Mustang Families,

With the start of the new school year, the Cheyenne Food Pantry could use your assistance with stocking the pantry shelves. The Pantry supports over 50 students and their families each week by providing supplemental food assistance on the weekends. The Pantry partners with the Oklahoma Regional Food Bank and Project 66 monthly, but depends heavily on the generosity and donations from the school community as well.

Thank you in advance for your support! I'm sharing my list with you on Amazon.

Student IDs

Students are required to wear their student ID every day. The ID badges contain an RFID card that will be scanned when riding the school bus each day. The ID badge also allows students to check out library books, check in to school, and to purchase breakfast and lunch items, as well as be used for our new pass system during the school day. Having and wearing your student ID allows us to provide a safe environment by identifying Cheyenne Students and Staff as belonging to our school!

Students are expected to call home when they don't have an ID. If they lose their ID it cost $5 to replace it.

Dress Code Reminders

The dress code policy has been reviewed with students in advisory. Students unable to follow the policy will be asked to call home for a change of clothes or offered items we have on hand.

DRESS CODE POLICY

Please take a few minutes to look over the Edmond Public Schools Dress Code policy. and STUDENT DRESS CODE (REGULATION). Here are a few key points.

  • Hats/Headwear: Students shall not wear hats or headwear in classrooms unless a medical or religious exception exists.

  • Clothing: Clothing must cover areas from one armpit across to the other armpit, down to the upper thighs. Tops must have shoulder straps. Rips or tears in clothing should be below the pocket area of jeans or pants. The top and bottom clothing items must be touching (No mid-drift).

  • Shirts may not be sheer or mesh and must cover the entire trunk of the body. Messages on shirts shall not include illegal drugs, alcohol, tobacco or other products that may not be utilized by children. Vulgar and/or obscene messages are prohibited and will be subject to discipline under the student discipline code.

  • Pants, shorts, skirts, and skorts shall be worn at the waist and must be no shorter than mid-thigh.

NO BLANKETS-

  • We would like to remind everyone that blankets are discouraged. If a student brings a blanket to school, it will be confiscated and returned to them at the end of the school day. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Dismissal Pickup Lines

We need your assistance in keeping Covell as open as possible in the afternoon. I am including the map for pickup and drop-off. There is still plenty of room to pull around using Prairie Village Drive and the Kelly entrance. This would provide a safer waiting area than on an active four-lane road. Please consider using this entrance for pickup or pulling into the parking lot to wait for your student.
