No School - Dec. 21-Jan. 4: Students return on January 5th!

This will be the last update until Jan. 8 for the following week. Everyone have a wonderful, safe, and restful break. Our teachers and staff will be doing the same!

Ask your child...

Have you ever asked your student how his/her day was and you get one word answers? Use these questions to ask specific questions about the week and get him/her talking!

SS7 - What causes Mt. Everest to grow each year?
Science 6 - Where does air pressure come from?
Math 7 - What does it mean to isolate the variable? (Use inverse operations to get x by itself)
Language Lab - What do you think was the most valuable lesson(s) you learned this semester and why?
Science 7 - What is the difference between a reactant and a product?
ELA 6 - Name the "Nonfiction Signposts".
ELA 7 - What is the most important theme of A Christmas Carol?
Art 6 - Show me your artwork from this semester (students are taking home artwork this week).
Art 7 - Show me your artwork from this semester (students are taking home artwork this week).
Adv. Art - Show me your artwork from this semester (students are taking home artwork this week).
Stagecraft - What is something interesting you've learned about the sets, props, costumes, etc in "Hamilton"?
Math 6 - What is absolute value? How do you find the absolute value of a number?
PE - Did you achieve your goals on the Fitnessgram post-assessments?
Choir - Are you satisfied with your grade in choir? Why or why not?
SS6 - Tell how an achievement from ancient Greece or Rome is similar to an achievement in our world today?

A La Carte Items in the Cafeteria....

Below is a list of items that students can buy in our cafeteria along with their lunch. We are starting to see students purchase five or six items (especially cookies & chips) at lunch and then not have time to eat all of their food. We ask that students finish eating before going outside, which helps tremendously with trash outside.

If your student's lunch account is rapidly decreasing, you might check with them and put limits around what they are allowed to purchase in the "a la carte line".

News from PTO

Our PTO is providing snacks for both Hellstern Middle Schools students and our sister school, Sonora Middle School on December 20th. We will be doing a Hot Chocolate Bar for staffs in both schools that day also. Thank you all for donations to make this happen!
