Principal's Message Principal's Message

Hello PRT Families!

The Old Settlers Day parade was a huge success for the PRT Huskies last weekend! Congratulations to our band, cheerleaders, dancers and pep club. Thanks for sharing our Husky pride!

Last night so many of our students represented PRT so well at the ONW v. OW football game. It was youth night and our football team was recognized, our band performed and our choir sang the national anthem. Great job to all of our Huskies!

I do have some exciting news to share - Every year the state recognizes exemplary first year teachers through the Horizon award. Our very own, Ms. Iennaccaro, FACS teacher has been nominated for the prestigious award. Congratulations, Ms. Iennaccaro! You are so deserving and we are very proud of you! Ms. Iennaccaro is now competing against other secondary educators in Olathe to earn the district's nomination for the state level round. The PRT Huskies are cheering you on!

I hope all of our families have a wonderful weekend! Thankfully fall is coming along with some cooler weather!

Aubree Dunigan recorded 6 kills on the game. The B game was a competitive battle from the start. Set 1 was a convincing win with 25-11. We dropped set 2 with a score of 17-25. Alaina Brown had 15 assists and 6 ace serves. Kendall Schurz and Macie Boerner held it down in the back row with a combined 11 digs. The final set we dropped 11-15. It was great competition that we needed.

The 8th grade team also had convincing wins against IT. The A team won 25-14 and 25-11 while the B team won 25-4 and 25-3. The B game recorded a season high 16 aces. Eloise Hirstein and Addison Knute each recorded 5 of those aces, while Kellan Wetzel and Brelynn Morgan each recorded 2 kills on the match. In the A game, Penelope Bradwell dished out multiple assists while Annabelle Miller ran multiple successful slides that resulted in kills. Cross Country

Wednesday, our PRT Cross Country team competed at the Blue Valley Southwest Meet, and what a day it was! It was hot, muddy, and packed with more than 1,200 runners!

Our Huskies showed up ready to compete, and we had three runners finish in the TOP 20 of the GOLD Championship Race!

A HUGE congratulations to Lainey Thurman, Landon Janis, and Maxsen Unick, with Maxsen racing to an incredible 4th-place overall finish!

We are still waiting on the final team results, but we couldn't be more proud of ALL of our PRT Cross Country runners for battling the heat, the mud, and some tough competition!

Football

The heat may have delayed kickoff, but it couldn’t cool down the Huskies!

The 8th grade A-Team put on a show, dominating from start to finish in a 30–0 shutout victory!

The 7th grade A-Team battled through the heat and brought home a big 20–6 win!

Two games. Two wins. One great night for PRT Football! Way to go, Huskies!

26th Annual Rev. Dr. MLK Jr. OPS Contest

We are excited to share with you the theme and quote for this year's 26th Annual OPS Dr. MLK Jr. Contest. This is a collaborative contest with the Olathe Human Relations Commission, Garmin, Olathe Libraries and Olathe Public Schools.

This year's theme is Integrity & Justice. His quote, "The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy." reminds us that integrity and justice can bring people together, heal division, and create lasting change. Even when facing hatred, he encouraged others to respond with courage and kindness.

This year’s contest invites our middle school and high school students to explore what integrity & justice means in your life and community. Students will express themselves by sharing their writing, art, or multi-media skills as they consider the theme – Integrity & Justice.

We are looking forward to receiving middle school and high school entries in visual arts, multimedia and written work from all schools. All entries are due to the PRT office on or before Wednesday, October 21, 2026. Building finalists will move on to the district competition where there are cash prizes for winners. If your student is interested in participating and needs more information, they should speak with Mr. Mellen.

Student Devices

Students need to bring their CHARGED device to school daily. The library has a very LIMITED number of extra devices reserved for students who may need it for technology issues or repairs. Please help remind your child(ren) to charge it each night AND bring it to school daily.

REMINDER: Drop off / Pick Up - Car Line Procedures

We continue to stress that cars may not enter the school area at arrival or dismissal from Lone Elm. All cars should enter PRT area from Valley Road. Cars entering the school area from Lone Elm is a major safety concern for our students that walk and ride bikes to school. The city designs our traffic pattern to ensure student safety. Thank you for helping to create a safe drop off and pick up. There is NO right turn into the west parking lot car line.

The PRT car loop only enters the west parking lot by turning left. This means all cars must come north on Valley Road, turn right on 107th Street and then turn left into the parking lot. We understand this may not be ideal for some, especially those of you who live just east of the school, however, the traffic pattern was set by the city in an effort to protect the neighborhoods to the east and to prevent interference with the bus route. We kindly ask that everyone follows the set traffic pattern and that all car riders are dropped off at the west entrance. It only works if everyone follows the same route. Students may be dropped off starting at 7:30am. Thank you for your understanding. Please see the attached map.

Parent_Drop_Off_Map.pdf

Please note: Students cannot be dropped off on 107th Street. Students cannot be dropped off in the turn lane.

This event provides students with the opportunity to explore the wide range of options available to them in Olathe Schools beginning in high school. By engaging with high school students currently enrolled in these programs, your child will gain valuable insight into a variety of courses and opportunities.

Students will be able to explore:

· Career Pathway Programs

We will be asking our students to conduct themselves in a professional manner and encouraging them to dress in PRT spirit wear.

During the fair, students will complete a Pathway Fair Passport. Before attending, they will pre-select five pathways to visit based on their current interests and future career goals. We encourage you to talk with your child beforehand to help them decide which pathway booths they would most like to explore.
