Elementary School 51 Announcement

Dear Sterling Ranch and Solstice Families,

It is with great excitement and deep gratitude that I introduce myself as the founding principal of School 51, your new elementary school opening in Fall 2027. As a passionate educator and community builder, I am honored to take on the responsibility and joy of leading the creation of a school that reflects the heart, hopes and future of this incredible community.

A little about me: My name is Julie Crawford, and I’ve proudly served as a school leader in Douglas County for the past 11 years, with the last seven years as the principal of Eldorado Elementary. I hold a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and have spent over two decades in public education, working as a Special Education teacher, instructional coach, assistant principal and principal. Each chapter of my career has reinforced what I believe at my core: Schools thrive when they are built on relationships, high expectations and a strong sense of belonging.

Opening a new school is a rare and exciting opportunity, and I can’t wait to build something extraordinary with you. I believe the best schools are not designed in isolation, but alongside the people they serve. Over the next two years, I’ll be working closely with district leaders, educators, and most importantly, our families and students to bring School 51 to life. From choosing a school name and mascot to shaping our shared values and vision, your voice will be essential every step of the way.

As we begin this journey together, my promise is to lead with transparency, creativity and heart. I’m eager to meet our founding families and learn what matters most to you and your children. Together, we will build a school that reflects the spirit of Sterling Ranch and Solstice - joyful, innovative, inclusive and rooted in excellence.
