Shout out to Coaches πŸ…

A special thank you to our athletic coaches for the tremendous impact they make on our students and school community. Coaches dedicate countless hours to helping students grow not only as athletes, but as teammates, leaders, and individuals.

Through practices, competitions, encouragement, and mentorship, they help students build confidence, responsibility, perseverance, and school pride. The lessons learned through athletics often extend far beyond the season and leave a lasting impact on our students’ lives.

We are grateful for the commitment, passion, and care our coaches bring each day to support our students both on and off the field, court, track, and mat! These important experiences are fully funded by local levy dollars; thanks to our community for your support of MSD athletics!

Coming This Fall: πŸ’¬ Parentsquare....

The Marysville School District is transitioning to the communication tool Parentsquare starting next school year.

This change is happening because Remind is no longer going to exist after this school year, and we heard from staff and families in our winter communications survey that finding a replacement tool for Remind was essential.

We plan to start using the system over this summer, and will share resources and more information with you about how to prepare in the coming weeks. πŸ“±

We'll send you an email in the coming days with more details about this change. In the meantime, you can learn more by visiting the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction's website HERE.

A Note on Sports Registration and the Pool

In case you missed our message earlier this week, Sports Registration for the 26-27 School Year is delayed due to a technical issue in our registration system. Our team is working on resolving this as quickly as possible. We will send an update with the new registration opening date as soon as we have one, and families will be able to register their students for sports throughout the summer until Fall Sports begin in late August.

Unrelated but just as important for you to know: a mechanical issue also forced us to temporarily close the pool this week. Our staff are working to assess and complete the repair as quickly as possible, so that we can restore this important resource for our community. We will post on our website, social media, and our newsletter once it is ready to reopen.

Thanks for your patience while we work on making things right. πŸ™

πŸ“¦ The Service Center Move: We'll Be Back with our Weekly Updates on June 12

What’s The Latest?

The movement of people to the State Ave building is still on pause as our tech and facilities teams continue to scale up phones and internet capacity there. Additional staff will not be relocating to the State Ave location until the week of June 12 or later.

With that in mind, we will not have a weekly move message for MSD families next week. We will resume All Staff and All Family messaging on Friday, June 12, when there is more to report.

We will share additional information about hours of operation and access to the Service Center ahead of any changes. As a reminder, the 80th Street Service Center will permanently close to the public by the end of June, and our first Board of Directors meeting at the State Avenue location will occur on July 20.

Each spring, students at Marysville Pilchuck High School are invited to showcase their work in the annual Art Fair. The invite is open to students taking art or ceramics classes, as well as any other students at MP who might have made paintings, drawings, or sculptures at home.

This week, the Spring Art Fair was on, offering our neighbors and the Marysville Pilchuck community a firsthand look at students’ unique creations and artistic achievements.

One student who participated in this year’s show says she’s taken ceramics classes for three years, and has been inspired to start her own ceramics business.

Participation is easy: students make art and the school displays it. Some students submit one or two pieces, while others submit more than a dozen!

This MP tradition is a celebration of the work students have put in over the course of the school year – or their high school career. Several students were recognized for their artistic contributions at a school assembly and were presented with a certificate and blue ribbon. Some proudly wore their ribbons for the rest of the day afterward. πŸ₯Ή

"It's been amazing to see students' art skills develop throughout the semester and be able to celebrate these accomplishments by sharing their artwork during the art fair," said art teacher Becca Bertrand. "It's a great opportunity to recognize the artists here at school, as well as giving the chance for peers, staff, and families to see their work too."

During the Art Fair, classes are invited to walk through the gallery to admire the different pieces and art styles – leaving some students inspired to take art classes and make something of their own!

Ceramics teacher Louie Jones says β€œStudents, I believe, are learning that putting effort into something, going through the submission process and putting themselves out there brings great reward. We see a lot of pride and satisfaction in our artists as they visit the gallery and see their work on display for all the school to enjoy.”

If you missed this year’s show, don’t worry – it’s happening again next year too! 🌷

Congratulations to all of the student artists who put in the effort to share their creativity with our community and inspire future artists. And a special thank you to the students, staff, and community members who continue to show up and support art in our schools!
