Superintendent's Weekly Update
9/23/2022

May 26, 2023
Dear Weymouth Public Schools' Community,
This weekend we commemorate all those who have fallen while serving in the United States Armed Forces, and take time to reflect and remember their sacrifices.
At Murphy Elementary School students learned about Memorial Day today, and recognized Frederick C. Murphy at a school assembly. If you plan on attending the Town of Weymouth Memorial Day parade (information below) you can expect to hear from some of Murphy's students who will read about Frederick Murphy at the parade.
Pictures from additional Memorial Day celebrations are included in the newsletter below, as well as a few updates and reminders for next week:
- The Honor Wall Ceremony was Tuesday night at Weymouth High School. WHS inducted 49 new students to the Scholar Wall, and 44 students added a paw to their brick for qualifying for multiple years. An additional 46 students were inducted to the Leadership Wall, and 9 students added a paw print for qualifying for a 2nd year. It was an exceptional night celebrating WHS students that have gone above and beyond in academics and leadership. We are incredibly proud of all those who were recognized, their families, and our staff who continue to play an important role in the achievement and success of all our students. Attached, please find a slideshow with each student and their achievements.
- There is no school on Monday, May 29 in observance of Memorial Day.
- Weymouth High School graduation will take place on Saturday, June 3.
- Spring concerts are underway! You can find a complete list of schools and concerts below.
- The WHS Football Program is hosting a Middle School Clinic open to any student in grades 6-8 on Monday, June 12 and Wednesday, June 14. To participate email Coach Donovan at michael.donovan@weymouthps.org. For more information, click here.
As a reminder, end of the year events, field days and celebrations will continue in the coming weeks. Please continue to check your school's Sunday message for important dates and deadlines.
Enjoy the long weekend and warm temperatures, and we'll see you back in school on Tuesday!
Best Regards,
Robert Wargo
Superintendent
Memorial Day Ceremony at Wessagusset Elementary
Wessagusset Elementary was honored to have Donnie Norton, Director of the WHS Theater Company, sign the National Anthem, along with an extraordinary guest speaker (and Wessagusset graduate), Sergeant Jonathan Doherty.
