Illinois School Report Card
The Illinois State Report Card released school summative designations today. I am pleased to announce that Richmond Elementary has received the highest designation: Exemplary! Congratulations to our Richmond community! How schools get a designation is an average of growth and proficiency. Then that designation can be elevated by additional factors. Those include EL Progress, Consistent Attendance and the 5-essentials Climate Survey. Both EL Progress and the Climate Survey (5-essentials student survey), we received the highest designation of Exemplary. For consistent attendance, we are 4% away from receiving the highest designation. In order to receive an exemplary designation in this area, we need over 88% of our students to be present 90% of the year or more. That means students cannot miss more than 18 days in a school year. We wanted to make our parents aware of this and ask for your partnership to help promote positive attendance for our students. Please see flyer below for some tips and info on building good attendance at school. Thank you for your partnership!
Richmond's Continuous Improvement Goals
We are so thrilled that Richmond has earned Exemplary status on the Illinois School Report Card! We know that maintaining this success and continuing to grow takes a strong partnership between school and home.
Below, you’ll find a graphic outlining Richmond’s three Continuous Improvement Goals for this school year, along with simple ways you can support your child’s learning and help us reach these goals at home. Thank you for being such an important part of our Richmond school community!
CogAT - 3rd & 5th Grade
The Cognitive Abilities Test measures a student’s verbal, quantitative, and nonverbal reasoning abilities which can facilitate their learning and problem-solving. Information gathered from CogAT scores may be used to adapt instruction and programs to the needs and abilities of students. It may also provide insight into a student’s readiness for advanced academic programming such as the Academically Talented program. HERE is a detailed letter regarding CogAT testing. CogAT testing is for students in grades 3 and 5.
Richmond will test on 11/10, 11/12 and 11/13. 3rd grade will test from 10:45-11:45 a.m. and 5th grade will test from 1:30-2:30 p.m.
5th Grade Puberty Education Program
I am writing to inform you about an important upcoming educational program for our fifth-grade students. We have partnered with Candor Health Education to present their "Puberty I - Understanding Changes" program, which will be delivered to our students on Friday, November 20th from 1:30-3:30 p.m.
Please click HERE for a detailed letter with more information including parent overview and resources.
Veterans Day
Richmond will be observing Veterans Day on Wednesday, November 11th. We invite our Veterans (and 1 family member/guest) to come to Richmond at 9:15 a.m. to enjoy a complimentary breakfast, followed by an all school assembly at 10 a.m. We will put together a video that we will show at our assembly and email out to families after the assembly. We need your help! We would love to include pictures of our Veterans in our presentation. Please reach out to family members and direct them to this FORM to be included in our video!
Please fill out one form for each veteran attending. You can also call the main office at (331) 228-2800 to RSVP.
