Arcadia Stars Newsletter
October 19th, 2025
From the Desk of the Principal
Dear Arcadia Star Families,
Spirit week was a lot of fun - crazy hair day, dress your best, pajama day, and hat and hoodie day! I would like to express our gratitude for the incredible support our families have provided for our students this school year! We sincerely appreciate your contributions to our PTO-sponsored Fun Run Fundraiser, which successfully reached our goal of $3,500. These funds play a vital role in providing supplies, fulfilling classroom wish lists, organizing events, and much more! Additionally, thank you for your generous donations of snacks and supplies, your volunteering efforts, your help with students' homework, and for ensuring your child arrives at school punctually every day. Your unity, collaboration, and teamwork have made a significant impact this year!
We are thrilled to provide an update on the teaching strategies we are implementing in the classroom to foster deeper learning and independence: our educators are focusing on the Gradual Release of Responsibility (GRR) framework and active student engagement. This instructional model is crafted to gradually transfer the responsibility for learning from the teacher to the student. Our student engagement strategies promote the students "doing the doing", and ensure students are actively participating in reading, writing, listening, speaking with peers, and thinking. This framework is helping your child develop not only specific academic skills but also crucial lifelong skills like self-reliance, critical thinking, and collaboration.
We look forward to continuing to partner with you to support your child’s success. This week brings several important events. Please make sure to check our updates and reminders!
Reminder: NO SCHOOL on October 22nd.
Wishing Blessings, Peace, and Joy,
Meaghan O. Timmons

Do you have the PowerSchool App?
The district uses PowerSchool as a two way communication tool. It allows families to get information about their students, such as attendance, grades, report cards, and test results. New this year, you will soon be able to stay in touch with your child's teacher using the two-way messaging. The messaging includes translation options. Please be sure that you have downloaded the PowerSchool App.
It is quick and easy to do! You can find it in the App store or Google Play. The district code is KXRB.
