Principal Pearson
Dear Howard Families,
As we approach the month of December, I want to take a moment to extend warm winter greetings to each and every one of you. It's a busy time of year! As we reflect on the past few months, I am incredibly proud of the hard work and dedication shown by our students, teachers, and staff.
Thank you to those who attended Fall Conferences. It was great to see so many of you here supporting your child’s education. Your involvement and support are crucial to the success of our entire community. Each family who attended Conferences is entered into our Conferences Raffle. Lucky winners will be drawn on December 4th; the families who are randomly selected will take home a board game and a snack, so you can enjoy a Family Game Night at home.
We have some fun events planned for December, including Coffee with the Principals followed by a Mustang Assembly on December 18th, and then Winterfest on December 19th. We look forward to your participation. Save the date for Howard SEL/Math Night on January 15th.
May this winter season bring you and your family warmth, joy, and a well-deserved break. Thank you for being a part of the Howard family. Wishing you all a wonderful December!
Warm regards,
Ms. Deirdre Pearson, Principal
Assistant Principal - Mrs Elrod
Hello Families,
As we move into this time of year, I just want to take a moment to say how grateful I am to be at Howard! I am thankful every day that I get to see all of the students’ smiling faces.
Speaking of attendance, I just wanted to take a minute to say how important it is that your child attend regularly. Attendance is directly related to your child’s success. Every day at school is an opportunity to learn, grow, and connect with others. When they attend consistently, they build strong habits, stay on track academically, and make meaningful friendships.
We appreciate your support in helping your child attend school regularly. If you ever have concerns or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We are here for you and want the best for each and every child!

SEL During the Holidays - It’s the most wonderful time of the year….
The holidays are a busy time for all of us. Many adults and children alike often experience heightened emotions and increased social interactions which can make this time of year both joyful and challenging at the same time. As we have more social interactions with others that can bring about stronger emotions. As we enter into our holiday season, let's remember to first take time for yourself.
Taking time for yourself is known as self-care. What is self-care? That is a great question! Self-care is doing things that fill you with joy, happiness, calm and relaxation. For example self-care can be going for a nice long walk outside. Sometimes that can clear the brain from its fog and we feel refreshed, calm and happy afterwards. Having family time playing games where our goal is laughter and not competition. Reading stories such as this one that you can listen to on Youtube: Tough Cookie Practicing self-care can help us stay calm, find our happy place and enjoy this most wonderful time of the year.
Have a most wonderful time of year,
Mrs. Warner
