Snyder Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
Arrival
School begins at 7:55 am.
Our doors will open at 7:30 am every school day. Please note that this is a change from previous years. We will no longer be able to accommodate opening the doors at 7:15 a.m. due to staffing.
The busiest time to drop off is between 7:45-7:55 AM. Prior to this, there are few cars on Birnham Woods Drive. Please take this into consideration. Additionally, please carpool if possible. When the bell rings at 7:30 AM, students will go to class, and meet their teacher.
Dismissal
School dismisses at 3:10 pm.
The car rider line may take up to an hour, and buses could run behind. Please have patience with us, as it is very important that each child is safe. Each day, the wait times will get much shorter.
It is important for your child to keep their backpack tag on their backpack to assist with our safety procedures during dismissal.
Car Riders
If your child is a car rider, you must have the district designated car rider sign to show at dismissal. Please write your child’s name(s) in BIG, BOLD, DARK writing and ensure the sign is visible at ALL times.
You can request additional signs in person from the front office, your ID is required
Please Do Not start forming the car rider line in front of the school before 2:00. The fire lane needs to stay clear for emergency vehicles only
Car rider is a “follow the leader” activity, with patience please. You can expect car rider to last at least one hour.
Please be sure that your child can enter the car by the door closest to the curb.
Bus Riders
All bus riders are required to be registered to ride the bus. You can do this at: https://www.conroeisd.net/transportation/
If your child is riding the bus, please take the time to meet the driver, if possible. It helps them to see a face and it helps them to remember which children get off at the different stops.
PK and Kindergarten students MUST have an adult at the bus stop to greet them. The adult needs to have the sign that was provided to them from the teacher. No PK or Kindergarten children will be released without an adult.
If your child does not get off the bus, please call Snyder to verify they loaded the bus.
Walkers/Bikers
PK and Kindergarten students MUST have an adult greet them. The adult needs to have the sign that was provided to them from the teacher. No PK or Kindergarten children will be released without an adult.
During dismissal no students will be able to meet their parents in our parking lot, near the tennis courts, or any of the school doors if they are a "walker/biker."
An alternate form of transportation is required for all walker/biker students due to severe weather dismissal procedures.
Daycare
Please verify with your daycare that they pick up at Snyder and that your child is registered to ride their bus at dismissal.
Severe Weather Dismissal
Although we will make every effort to adhere to this time, there may be times when it may be necessary to make the call after 2:45.
Severe Weather Dismissal WILL ONLY AFFECT THE WALKERS AND BIKERS. (If your student is a car rider, bus rider, or daycare they will go home their normal way.)
Notification of severe weather dismissal will be sent as an email and text for those who have Parent Access accounts.
If there is light rain falling, all bikers/walkers will be dismissed as usual. It would be a good idea for students who walk or ride their bike to have a rain coat to wear on such days.
Parents of Bikers and walkers - make sure your child's teacher knows the alternate transportation for your child.
If your child is usually a biker/walker, and their alternate transportation is car rider, you will need to wait in the car rider line for pick up, or you may wait in the front office until the end of dismissal when we are able to retrieve your child from their alternate dismissal line. There is no need to check your child out from the front office.
Change of Transportation (no Later than 2:00pm)
If you need to change your student’s mode of transportation for the day, please send a note in their backpack and have them give the note to their teacher.
Note should include:
*Student(s) name(s) *Date(s) *Teacher’s name
* How they will be going home (include name of person picking up)
A same day change can also be emailed to Snyder@conroeisd.net before 2:00 pm. (please cc their teachers).
Early Student Pick Up
The latest you can pick up a student prior to dismissal is 2:30 pm.
(Please let the front office know, in writing, if alternate person is picking up student)

2026-2027 Student Placement
Student Placement for 2026-2027 is a Top Priority at Snyder. Student placement for the school year is decided by a committee made up of teachers, administration, counselors, and occasionally, the special education staff. We work very hard to match children's learning styles and personalities with next year's teachers. We take this task very seriously and examine the strengths and needs of each child as we strive to place each student in the environment in which he/she will be most successful.
While we do not take teacher requests, the administrators collaborate with the teachers to place each student in a classroom that will best meet their academic, emotional, and social needs. Please do not request specific teachers or make friend requests. Class composition and a learning/personality match is our top priority as we strive for the correct placement for each child. We appreciate your help and support with this very important endeavor.
The placement is a long process as we take into account many factors. We start the process in May and continue to work on placement and make necessary changes throughout the summer. Families will be notified of their child’s teacher the week before school begins in August. Once your child's placement is complete, it is not possible to make changes, as this compromises the dynamics of the entire class. We work very hard to create just the right environment for each student.

Clinic Information
Illness/Injury
If your child is ill or injured during school hours, he/she will be assessed by a Registered Nurse. For superficial abrasions, soap and water will be used for cleansing and Vaseline may be applied as a skin protectant. Otherwise, it may just be covered with a latex-free band-aid/dressing or left open to air.
Medication
No medications will be administered unless you have signed something in for specific symptoms, in which a letter will be sent home with your child to notify you when and what was given.
Visits to the Nurse
You will not be contacted each time your child visits the school nurse. However, in the event your child appears to have a serious illness/injury, every effort will be made to notify you. Please be sure all phone numbers and health care information is kept current throughout the school year. For emergent issues, 911 will be called, followed by a phone call to a parent/guardian.
Fever
Children with temperature of 100 degrees or higher will be sent home immediately. Please keep students home from school until they remain fever-free (below 100 degrees) for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication. Children with other symptoms of a possibly communicable disease will also be sent home from school at the discretion of the school nurse. If your child has been diagnosed with a possibly contagious illness, such as flu, strep throat, or COVID-19, please notify the school nurse.
