There Are Lots of Exciting Opportunities at the Judy Center Early Learning Hub at SES in April!!!

It sounds like April is going to be a wonderful and educational month at the Judy Center Early Learning Hub at SES! With a focus on farm animals, the planned activities not only engage the children in hands-on learning experiences but also promote family participation and community involvement.

Here are some highlights of the activities:

  1. Farm Animals Exploration: A visit from Bright Star Farm on April 24th and a visit to Party Animals on April 29th will provide a fantastic opportunity for children to interact with real farm animals alongside their peers. This experience will help the children learn more about the animals, their habitats, and their roles on the farm.

  2. Nutrition Education: The sessions led by Tina Squibb from the University of Maryland SNAP Ed. Program are a great addition, focusing on healthy eating and nutrition. Parents and caregivers will be equipped with knowledge to inspire their children to become food explorers, promoting healthy habits in a fun way.

  3. Library Engagement: The involvement of the Queen Anne's County Library's Mobile Unit adds another layer of learning, supporting early literacy and community engagement. Their participation in the field trip to Party Animals will surely enhance the children's experience.

  4. Spring Celebration: The annual egg and rubber ducky hunt is a delightful way to celebrate spring while encouraging outdoor play and interaction among children.

  5. Professional Development for Providers: The networking event for childcare providers, in collaboration with EXCELS and the University of Maryland Cooperative Extension Office, is a fantastic opportunity for professionals to enhance their skills, share ideas, and learn about gardening. This not only benefits the providers but also enriches the educational environment for the children they work with.

Overall, the month of April promises to be filled with fun, learning, and community connections. It’s a wonderful initiative that supports both children's growth and the professional development of caregivers.

Earth Day Celebration /Celebracion del Dia de la Tierra

Sudlersville Elementary School has a long-standing tradition of celebrating Earth Day. SES plans to celebrate Earth Day on Friday, April 11th. All students, along with the children and families of the Judy Center Early Learning Hub at SES, will be involved in the festivities.

During this event, children will:

  • Learn about growing plants and flowers from seeds
  • Understand the significance of recycling
  • Learn about the Chesapeake Bay watershed
  • Discover the various animals, plants, fish, and reptiles that inhabit the region
  • Learn how to be responsible caretakers of the earth

The Judy Center at SES will contribute by sharing information and reading a book about the blue crab. Additionally, Ms. Elizabeth will have a touch tank featuring soft crabs, allowing children to interact with these creatures and gain insights into the anatomy, habitat, and intriguing facts about blue crabs.
