Dear Families,

The fall weather is upon us! If the weather is 50 degrees and below, we do ask students to wear the jackets and/or sweaters they bring to school.

Our arrival and dismissal times are the busiest time of day. Please be considerate of our neighbors and only drop off at the north end of our building, in the loading zone. In our FAQs we send at the beginning of each year, our procedures are outlined:

Student Drop-off and Pick-up Prohibited signs are posted along Belmont, Clarendon, Pine Avenue and Olive Street between Arlington Heights Road and Douglas Street.
No parking is allowed on Olive Street during school/CAP hours.
Neighbors have been advised to call the Arlington Heights Police Department for those who are not abiding by the village signs.

Save the Date - Thursday, November 6th from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m.

Our 3rd Annual Multicultural Night is coming up on Thursday, November 6th, from 6:00–7:30 p.m., and we can’t wait to celebrate the many cultures that make our OMS community so special!

Right now, we only have one family signed up to host a room — but we need at least 10–12 families to make this event possible. Hosting a room is a wonderful way to share your family’s traditions. Click here to see pictures from past years!

If we don’t have enough families participate this year, we will need to cancel the Multicultural Night classroom experiences, but will still go forward with the 3rd Grade Concert as planned. Concert times will remain the same:

6:10 p.m. – Students in Mrs. Molnar, Mrs. Kelly, and Mrs. Bagg’s classes
6:30 p.m. – Students in Mrs. Helmann and Mrs. Yarbrough’s classes

Let’s make this year’s Multicultural Night our best one yet!

Please click the link below for information related to Halloween 2025 at the Nest! You will find information about parade times, routes, costume guidelines, etc. ALL students are required to have a completed permission slip.

We will adjust our lunch hour on Friday, October 31st. All students staying for lunch will eat from 12:30 - 1:00 p.m and change into costumes from 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Our parade will begin around 1:40/1:45 p.m.

Halloween A to Z ~ 2025

Halloween Permission Slip 2025 - One must be filled out for EACH child. **Your child's teacher will reach out directly if you have not yet signed the permission slip.

As Veterans Day approaches, our school would like to take a moment to honor and recognize the brave men and women who have served or are currently serving in the United States Armed Forces. We invite our school community to share photos of veterans or active-duty service members from their families. These photos will be proudly displayed on a special bulletin board at school as a tribute to their service and sacrifice.

Please fill out this form (with the service member’s name, branch of service, and your child's name/class) and upload a photo by Tuesday, October 28. If you have any trouble uploading your photo to this form, please email it to us at omslmc@sd25.org. If you send us an email, please make sure to include your child’s name, the service member’s full name, the person’s branch of service, and the relationship to the student.

Students will also be invited to color and write cards to thank veterans and service members for their service to our country as Veterans Day draws closer.
