PRAYER PRAYER

Today, we celebrate the Feast of St Augustine. St Augustine was a priest, bishop and Catholic writer who was one of the greatest saints that ever lived. He is considered a Doctor of the Church, a testament to his immense intellectual and spiritual leadership.

Saint Augustine (354-430) created this poetic prayer to the Holy Spirit:

PRAYER

Please keep the Lum Family (Year 4) in your thoughts and prayers.
We were saddened to hear that the Lum family has experienced a fire in their family home. During this difficult time, we extend our heartfelt support to Marlene, Michael, Maddie and Mathieu and ask our school community to keep them in their prayers.

YEAR 1 LITURGY

Thank you to the Year 1 class who led their parents in a beautiful Liturgy of the Word on Tuesday. Prayer was the focus and the individual prayers that the students composed were beautiful - a highlight to the celebration. Thank you to Mrs Salvia and Mrs Beacher for preparing the students for the liturgy. They were delightful!

EUCHARISTIC PARENT/CHILD WORKSHOP

The Parish held a workshop on Wednesday for parents and students who will be receiving their First Holy Communion in a few weeks time. It was very well attended, and I would like to thank the parents for taking such an active role in the spiritual development of their children. Thank you also to the Parish who ran the meeting and work so closely with us. Just three weeks to go!

2026

We are now starting to look towards 2026 with reference to staffing etc. If we have families who will not be returning to Queen of Apostles from Kindy to Year 5, could you please let us know before the end of the term. As stated in our School Fees Information Guide ( School-Fees-Information-Guide), we may charge the Term’s fee if not given a term’s notice of withdrawal.

FURNITURE

Our Year 4 class received a very special surprise on Tuesday morning - new desks and chairs! The Year 4’s love their new desks (with trays) that help the flow of the classroom between lessons (they have all they need on hand). How nifty! Thank you to the P&F for your generous funding of new furniture for the Year 4 Classroom. We have a class of very grateful students.

ONE BIG VOICE

Excitement is mounting for the One Big Voice performance tomorrow night. It will be a spectacular performance by all and a great opportunity for our small school to be a part of such a huge event. Thank you to Mrs Perry for organising the choir, and to the parents who ensured the children turned up for morning practice sessions. Mrs Perry’s passion for music and art inspires all our students.

PAUL LITHERLAND PRESENTATION

Paul Litherland was unable to attend the presentation talk to our Year 5 and 6 students this morning. The presentation will take place at a later time.

Our Bookweek Specials were a hit!

Thank you to all the parent volunteers who helped out.

Please note tomorrow is the last day of the Bookweek Specials.

🕐 Canteen Close

Please note that the canteen closes at 1:20pm, and students are not permitted to purchase after-lunch treats after this time. This allows them enough time to finish their meals prior to the bell.

To avoid disappointment, we kindly encourage families to pre-order any after-lunch items in advance.

Thank you for your understanding and support!

Canteen Volunteers

Our canteen manager, Sharon is in need of assistance on Thursday and Friday mornings. If you can spare an hour or two on either of these days, please see Sharon. A reminder that the Volunteers Form will need to be filled out if it hasn’t already been submitted this year. Due to Child Safety regulations, only parents can volunteer in the canteen – friends or grandparents require a Working With Children Card.

Parking and Drive Thru Arrangements

A reminder for everyone to be aware of our parking and drive through arrangements at the front of the school as the safety of our children is of paramount importance.

  • Vehicles will enter via the middle driveway on Tribute St East.
  • If you wish to park and leave your car to come into the school, please turn to the left and park in one of the bays adjacent to the Early Learning Centre or use the marked roadside bays outside the school.
  • When exiting the car park, you will do so at the exit closest to Vahland Ave.
  • If you are only dropping-off or picking-up, then please veer right and enter the drive-thru area. In this area you may not park or leave your vehicle unattended - it is strictly drop-off or pick- up only!
  • When exiting the drive-thru section you will use the exit closest to Tudor Ave.
  • Children waiting to be picked up are to wait on the verandah, under teacher supervision, and when they see their parent’s car enter the drive-thru, they may proceed down the steps at either end of the ramp and wait on the footpath adjacent to the bay where their parent has pulled up.
  • Children should enter vehicles from the curbside only to avoid passing vehicles.

Volunteering

The Government of WA have amended the Working with Children Act last year with the changes implemented to better protect children. Catholic Education WA has mandated this process for all volunteers, including parent volunteers in schools. This includes parents who wish to volunteer at sports carnivals, in classrooms and at P&F events. Could we ask that all parents fill in the Volunteer Declaration (link) even if you have no plans at this stage to volunteer at school. If you filled out the form last year you will need to do it again this year. Parents who wish to assist teachers on excursions will need to be on this list. Your information will be stored securely in accordance with CEWA’s Information Stewardship. We highly value parent volunteers' time and contribution to our school community and thank-you for taking the time to submit the form below.

Any grandparents that wish to volunteer in the classroom or assist in the canteen will need a Working With Children Check. Please note this does not include drop off, pick up or attendance at our Grandparents Mass and Morning Tea. Grandparents that would like to volunteer at school, please contact the school office and we can assist you in the process.

Father’s Day Stall

We have a great selection of items for sale, ranging from $1 - $6. Classes will be sent over to the undercover area, one at a time to make their purchases. To ensure there are enough items for all the classes we ask that children limit the amount they are buying to 1 item each. Cash only (EFTPOS not available). Please BYO bag. After all classes have had an opportunity to buy a present, any remaining gifts will be available to purchase at lunchtime from the undercover area.
