Construction Impact on School Arrival & Dismissal
The Village of Barrington’s Route 14 underpass project is on-going. We anticipate buses to be delayed and traffic to be slow-moving around the district for at least the next four weeks. Here is a map of where all the work is taking place.
If your child rides the bus, please make sure you have downloaded the My Ride K-12 app so that you can keep track of your child’s bus and any potential delays that may occur as a result of this work.
If you drive your child, please allow extra time and please be patient allowing buses to leave our lot at the end of the day.
Law Enforcement Lockdown Drills
As required by the Illinois School Safety Drill Act (105 ILCS 128/20), during each academic year, schools must conduct a law enforcement lockdown drill. This drill shall be no later than 90 days after the first day of each school year.
Law enforcement lockdown drills must be conducted on days and times when students are normally present in the school building and must involve participation from all school personnel and students present at school at the time of the lockdown drill. The appropriate local law enforcement agency shall observe the administration of the lockdown drill.
Also required by the Illinois Safety Drill Act, we must notify you about the upcoming law enforcement lockdown drill and provide an opportunity for you to opt your child out of the drill.
The law enforcement lockdown drill will take place at Prairie Campus on Tuesday, September 23rd at 2:15 PM. If you wish your student to be exempted from the law enforcement lockdown drill, please complete this Google Form.

Supporting a Safe Environment at Prairie
Dear Prairie Families,
I want to share an important health update about our school community. We have a staff member and students with a severe, airborne latex allergy that can trigger anaphylaxis. While it isn’t possible to guarantee a completely latex-free environment, we are committed to taking reasonable steps to reduce exposure and maintain a safe setting for everyone.
To help support this effort, we ask that families:
Do not send latex balloons to school. Mylar/foil balloons are a safe alternative.
Be mindful when sending in supplies or materials that could contain latex. If you are unsure, feel free to check with our school nurse.
Thank you for helping us create a caring and safe environment at Prairie. Your cooperation ensures that our focus can remain on what matters most—learning, growth, and the success of everyone within our Prairie family.
With gratitude,
Travis Lobbins
Principal, Prairie Campus
