Fall is here...

Please make sure to send your child/ren dressed for the weather. Days are beginning very cold and warming up. A coat or a sweatshirt will help to keep them warm. Also, the playground is often wet in the morning. A change of clothes in backpacks keeps us warm and dry and ready to learn.

Halloween Parade

On October 31st, we will be carving pumpkins with the PTO. At 2:15 we will be leaving for our annual Halloween Parade.

Students can bring their costumes to school. We will change after lunch. Your child/ren should be able to put their costume on alone. No masks or gore, please. They need to be able to see where they are going so they will be safe on the road.

Things Get Spooky in Ms. B.'s K/1!

This week, we read the Halloween story Click, Clack, Boo and talked about the main characters and setting. The students did a great job understanding this concept, and they did a fun craft for it too! The boys and girls are working hard on their math and literacy skills. I am seeing so much growth already!

Math is Everywhere in 2nd Grade! Math is Everywhere in 2nd Grade!

Second graders are so excited about Halloween that they incorporated it into their math time! They used hundreds blocks, tens blocks, and ones blocks to build a haunted house and practice their place value skills

Ever Wonder What's Under Your Feet?

A group of 4 students took on the task of preparing a lesson on The Rock Cycle and teaching the class how it all works. When the listening students were asked questions afterward, they were able to answer correctly - proving what a great job the presenters did!

Throwing Skills and Skulls...

This week in PE all grades worked on their overhand throwing skills, along with learning how to work as a team and create strategies while playing several different cooperative games.

In health, third and fourth graders continued to explore their skeletal system by focusing specifically on their skull, and even got crafty and created a moveable skull of their own. Second grade continued to focus on what a family is, how a family can change, and how their own family can help them stay healthy. In first grade and kindergarten began to learn about emotions with the help of The Little Scribble Spot of Emotion.

Next rotation, second, third, and fourth graders will brush up on their kicking and foot dribbling skills with soccer; while kindergarten and first grade will continue their work on overhand throwing.

A Note From the Principal

Outside Lions' Learning took place today. The students explored how the changing of the seasons impacts both plants and animals. Students spent time with Kara from the Harris Center. They explored how and why leaves on deciduous trees change in the fall. Thank you to the PTO for making it possible for the Harris Center to join us on OLL days! Mrs. Doell conducted nature drawings of food needed by animals to prepare for winter. Ms. Kelly discussed how to prepare the gardens for winter—exploring the needs of plants to survive the snow. Ms. B. made Andy Goldsworthy-inspired leaf art that will be published in a book. Thank you to all who came to support us and be part of the day!
