What an exciting start to the new school year! It has been wonderful to see the enthusiasm and energy our students and teachers have brought back to campus. The excitement for learning is everywhere, and we are so proud of the incredible start our OES family has had!

We had a fantastic time at our first Spirit Night, and it was wonderful to see so many of our families come together to support our school. Our students are already shining beyond the classroom as well! We are especially proud of our OES Chorus, who did an amazing job at their first event, singing in the rain under cover at the Mighty Mussels Game. What an exciting opportunity to watch our students share their talents and shine in our community!

September will bring many more opportunities for families to connect with our school. On September 1st, we invite parents to join us for our first Morning Mingle in the Media Center. This will be a wonderful opportunity to introduce yourself, meet members of our leadership team and school staff, and enjoy some coffee and donuts together. Following Morning Mingle, we hope you will stay for our SAC Meeting at 9:00 a.m.

Our students will also have the opportunity to demonstrate their academic excellence during State Baseline Testing, September 8th–18th. Please be mindful of our closed campus testing days and help us ensure students arrive at school on time, well-rested, and ready to do their best.

We are also looking forward to Curriculum Night on September 29th! Teachers will share important information about PM1 data, student goal setting, grade-level curriculum, academic expectations, and much more. This is a valuable opportunity for families to learn more about the exciting learning taking place in their child's classroom.

One of the events we are most excited about this month is our first Community Tailgate with Barron Collier High School on September 18th! This will be a wonderful opportunity for our school community to come together, connect with one another, and then cheer on the BCHS football team!

September is certainly a busy month, but it is filled with so many wonderful opportunities to learn, connect, celebrate, and grow together. I am excited to meet even more of our families and, most importantly, continue watching our students shine.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Let's make September a month to remember as our students continue to be WILD about Learning!

Literacy Coach’s Corner Literacy Coach’s Corner

Students took the first iReady Inform Assessment of the year in August. Below is some information about the new assessment and individualized student reports that will be coming home soon.

What is i-Ready Inform?

The information from the i-Ready Inform assessment helps teachers personalize instruction and choose lessons that match each student’s learning needs. i-Ready Inform provides valuable information about your child’s current skills and learning progress. The results help teachers identify strengths, areas for growth, and skills that may need additional practice. This information is used to guide classroom instruction and provide targeted support based on your child’s individual needs.

Understanding Your Child’s i-Ready Inform Results

Each student will be coming home with an individualized student report. The report gives families a snapshot of their child’s current academic performance and growth. It helps parents understand what their child has learned, what skills they are ready to work on next, and where additional support may be helpful.

The report may include:

  • Overall Scale Score – Shows your child’s current performance and helps track growth over time.
  • Domain Scores – Breaks reading into specific skill areas so families can see individual strengths and areas for growth.
  • Grade-Level Placement – Provides information about how your child’s performance compares with grade-level expectations.
  • Typical Growth – Shows a reasonable amount of growth expected based on your child’s starting point.
  • Stretch Growth – Shows a more ambitious growth goal that encourages accelerated progress.
  • Instructional Next Steps – Helps identify the skills your child is ready to learn and practice.

Next Steps… Individualized Personalized Instruction

Your child’s i-Ready Personalized Instruction path provides lessons based on the skills identified through the i-Ready Inform assessment. These lessons are designed to meet your child where they are and help them build the skills they are ready to learn next.

As your child works through their lessons, they have opportunities to practice, build understanding, and strengthen skills over time. Completing lessons regularly and putting forth their best effort can help support continued academic growth.

Families can help by encouraging students to complete their assigned lessons, take their time, and do their best! Thank you for partnering with us to support your child’s learning and continued growth!

Testing Updates Testing Updates

As we begin a new school year, our students will soon participate in the Progress Monitoring 1 (PM1) assessments. These assessments provide valuable information about each student's current academic progress and help teachers plan instruction to best support student learning throughout the year.

PM1 Testing Dates: September 8- September 18

Parent letters are attached below and have been sent home with your child regarding grade specific dates. To ensure a secure and distraction-free testing environment for all students, our campus will operate as a closed campus on testing days September 8 – September 18th.

During the PM1 testing window, visitors will not be permitted on campus. This includes having lunch with your child or volunteering. Please make arrangements with your child’s teacher after the window is finished for volunteer opportunities.

Families can support student success by helping students:

  • Arrive to school on time each day.
  • Get a good night's sleep before testing.
  • Eat a healthy breakfast.

We appreciate your partnership in helping create an environment where students can focus and perform at their highest level. PM1 assessments are an important tool for understanding student progress and guiding instruction throughout the school year. If you have any questions regarding testing schedules or campus procedures, please contact the school office.
