Here comes Spring! March is a perfect time to reflect on growth. Just as we begin to see signs of spring outside, we are seeing tremendous academic and personal growth inside our classrooms. Our students are learning that effort, perseverance, and a positive attitude make a difference — especially when learning feels challenging.

With state testing approaching (Illinois Science Assessment for 5th Grade, March 9-12th and Illinois Assessment of Readiness for 3rd-5th Grade, April 7-17th), this is an important time to reinforce a growth mindset. We talk often with students about doing their personal best, taking their time, and remembering that mistakes are part of learning. State assessments are one way we measure progress, but they do not define our students. They are opportunities to show what they know and how much they’ve grown this year.

Families can help by:

  • Encouraging positive self-talk (“I can try my best.” “I am prepared.”)

  • Maintaining consistent bedtime and morning routines

  • Ensuring students arrive on time and ready to learn

  • Celebrating effort more than outcomes

When school and home work together to promote resilience and confidence, students feel supported and empowered. Thank you for partnering with us as we head into this important season of learning and growth.

Attendance Notes Attendance Notes

Coming to school regularly helps students feel connected and confident.

  • Our class attendance last month: 92.8%

  • Goal for next month: 94.0%

  • Reminder: Every day matters! If your student will be out, please let us know. Thank you for your help in getting your student to school on time and ready to learn.

Nurse Notes Nurse Notes

Bathroom accidents happen from time to time and it is better to be prepared for them. For students in Kindergarten through First Grade, please pack an extra change of clothes in their backpack. There are limited clothing items in the clinic for students to use. When a student does not have an extra set of clothes, guardians may be called to bring the items needed. Clothing changes can also occur if they slipped in mud or water on the playground or it rained at the bus stop. Thank you!
