Mustang Update

We have been having a great time with our Homecoming activities this week! The annual bonfire, Spikefest and Powder Puff football game is in the books and we now turn to the final activity of the week – the football game and the crowning ceremony. The crowning ceremonies will be during halftime of the football game! We invite all of you to join us for this big event. Our Booster Club will be on hand with a meal and we will also have our normal concessions available as well.

Another group that has been working hard this fall is our cross-country team! Coach Pishney and our runners already have one meet (Maryville) under their belt and ran on Thursday at Washington County (Cedar Hills Golf Course). Cross country is an awesome sport where the individual not only competes with others but against themselves in order to better their times! Our junior high runners cover a two-mile course and our high school runners run a 5K or 3.1 miles. Congratulations to all of our runners and Coach Pishney.

In case you missed the news this past spring, Ms. Husband was awarded a nice sized grant for upgrades to our Ag. Shop area. The shop is now in receipt of some new hand tools and battery powered equipment with more to come. The grant will also provide our students with a plasma table and upgrades to our facilities as well. Congratulations are in order for Ms. Husband who put in a lot of work during the application process!

Another group we would like to recognize is the crew who puts in time keeping our football/track facilities looking so good during the fall! We have already received numerous compliments from our visitors on the condition of the field and how well it is maintained. Thank you, Ryan Bishop and Clayton Reed, for keeping things looking great out there!

One last thing is to remind our parents and guardians that children should be sitting with you during our athletic contests. You can help us out by not allowing your children to play on the stage or commons during volleyball and basketball games as well as the youth football game going on during our high school and junior high games. As game administrators we are watching the players, coaches, officials and crowd members to ensure that the games run smoothly. It is true that we allow all Valley Heights students in the games for free and we want them to be here and cheering loudly for our Mustangs. However, we do ask that they are accompanied to the games by their parents or a responsible adult! Thanks for your help!

Remember – no classes on Monday, September 14th for Professional Development!

The annual Homecoming festivities are about to begin! From dressing up with friends, to sports, and the Homecoming dance, there is something for everyone to look forward to.

Your Valley Heights Mustangs will take on the Doniphan West Mustangs this Friday, September 11th.

The Homecoming parade will be at 2:30 on Friday afternoon in downtown Waterville. Before the game, there will be a community wide tailgate behind the concession stand starting at 5:30. The game will kick off at 7 with the crowning of Homecoming Royalty at halftime. Following the game, will be the Homecoming Dance that all high school students are invited and encouraged to attend.

This year’s Homecoming Queen candidates are Lindsay Gray, Paige Miller, and Avery Stevenson. The King candidates are Everson Parker, Aiden Unruh, and Charlie Warders. Make sure to come out and support the Mustangs, and don’t miss the crowning of our 2026 Homecoming King and Queen.
