Staff/Student Spotlight
Dr. Hahn
Q: How long have you been a teacher at PMSA?
A: This is my 2nd semester at PMSA.
Q: Classes/grade levels that you have taught while at PMSA?
A: IH Spanish levels 2, 3 and 4.
Q: What activities and/or sports/clubs do you sponsor?
A: Sadly, I don't currently sponsor any sports or clubs. I would love to do so next year!
Q: What do you love most about teaching here at PMSA?
A: The thing I love most about teaching at PMSA are the relationships I am forming with my students and colleagues.
Q: What is your most memorable moment while teaching here at PMSA?
A: My most memorable moment so far has been the holiday choir performance! I brought my two sons, and we all loved the festive energy. They even got to see Santa Clause!
Q: What is an interesting fact(s) that many do not know about you?
A: I started college as an Aviation major. I changed majors to study Comparative Literature and Spanish after my third semester, but not before receiving my private pilot's license.
Q: What book(s) are you currently reading for pleasure?
A: Vladimir Nabokov's Pale Fire. It's about a delusional academic that believes the book he's annotating is about him.
Q: Anything else you would like to tell the school community about yourself?
A: I'm happy to be here contributing to this wonderful community of educators and learners!
Ricardo Fernandez
Ricardo Fernandez is a senior at PMSA. He is currently Vice President of Raza Unidos, an accordion player for a band, in addition to working on ecological restoration outside of school. He does all of this while maintaining a 5.0 GPA!
Q: What is your most memorable moment as a student at PMSA?
A: My most memorable moment as a student at PMSA was the zoo field trip with the entire AP Biology class. Everyone worked extremely hard throughout the year in that class and the zoo experience made everything feel like it was worth it.
Q: What do you love most about PMSA?
A: I definitely love the friendships I made throughout my 4 years the most. I was able to make many memories and enjoy my time here because of them.
Q: What are your plans post high school?
A: My plan after high school is to go to Washington University in St. Louis and become a top 10 statistics student there. I want to eventually be an Actuary or a Biostastician.
Q: What is your number 1 college choice?
A: Through the Quest Bridge program, I was able to rank up to 15 schools to potentially receive the full-ride match scholarship. The number 1 school on that list was Duke, and my number 2 was WashU. Even though I did not get matched to my number 1 school, I am still extremely grateful to receive my 400k scholarship at a top 20 school in the country. WashU is now my number 1 school, as they believe in me and gave me the opportunity of a lifetime.
Q: What is your favorite subject(s)
A: My favorite subjects are statistics, and biology.
Q: What is your favorite book?
A: My favorite book is named Projekt 1065, which I read in 5th grade.
Q: What is something interesting about yourself that you want to share with the PMSA school community?
A: I am currently working on a research project, which will outline the effects of microplastics on Brine shrimp.
