Pathfinder Press
Information for Pathfinder Families / Summer 2025 Edition
October 23, 2026
Pathfinder Families,
We look forward to welcoming our Pathfinder families to parent–teacher conferences next week! Conferences are an opportunity to celebrate your child’s growth, discuss areas for continued progress, and work together on next steps. Your insights, questions, and hopes for your child are an important part of that conversation.
Research reinforces the value of this partnership. In fact, studies report that parent involvement in school is positively associated with students’ achievement, engagement, and motivation. When we work collaboratively and share what we see at home and school, we can better understand and support each child.
Please make plans to attend, and come ready to share your perspective and ask questions. Thank you for trusting us with your children and partnering with us in their learning. We’re glad to be on your child’s team!

📜 An Update to Standards-Based Scoring on your Student's Report Card
This school year, we are updating our elementary standards-based scoring guide from a 1-4 scale to five categories: Not Yet (NY), Developing (D), Approaching (A), Proficient (P) and Exceeding (E). These categories provide a clearer picture of where students are in their learning and what they need to continue growing.
A student’s proficiency level is based on evidence gathered through multiple assessments and learning experiences over time, not simply an accumulation of points or assignment grades. Teachers consider the most consistent and recent evidence to determine a student’s current understanding and ability to demonstrate grade-level standards.
Our goal is to provide families with meaningful information about student progress, celebrate growth, and help every learner continue moving forward.
Visit our Grading Practices - Elementary page for parent guides for each grade-level report card as well as answers to other frequently asked grading questions.

If you have provided a cell phone number, parents can opt in to receive text alerts and messages. Simply text "YES" to 67587 (standard text messaging fees apply). New families should have received an opt-in text this week.
