Preschool Drop Off and Pick Up - Ms. Caitlin's Class Only
Please note an upcoming change to preschool drop off and pickup for Ms. Caitlin's class! Starting Monday November 2nd, please drop off and pick up through the preschool entrance in the breezeway to prepare for winter months ahead. The times are still the same, and a preschool staff member will be at the door to let parents in 8:15-8:30 AM and 3:00-3:15 PM. Thank you for your flexibility and partnership with this change!
Morning Playground
As we work together to build confident, independent learners, we want to share a quick reminder regarding morning arrival. Parents are always welcome to walk students to the playground entrance, but we kindly ask that you keep goodbyes brief rather than staying to hang out on the playground.
Giving students space to transition onto the playground independently helps them build self-confidence and settle in with their peers before the school day begins. Please rest assured that your children are in great hands—we have a minimum of three staff members stationed on the playground every morning from 8:05 AM until the morning bell to ensure a safe, fun, and well-supervised environment.
Thank you for your partnership in making our morning arrivals smooth and empowering for all our kids!
Dental Screening Referrals
The results from our SPE Dental screening (September 11th) are being sent home with your student this week. If your child passed the screening, you will not receive any paperwork. Please call the SPE Health Office if you have any questions at 970-871-3494
Halloween Parties & Parade
We are so excited for some Halloween festivities on Friday 10/30!
- If you do not want your student to participate in the class party and/or costume parade, please let their teacher know. We will have alternate activities in the office.
- Teachers will let families know if the class party will be open for guests or just the class. Please make sure to be respectful of closed class parties.
- If you attend your student's classroom party, please either leave and come back for the parade or feel free to wait outside. Parents are not permitted to
- We will have a costume parade at 3:00 PM, families are more than welcome to attend! Students will do a full lap around the school. Families should stay on the OUTSIDE of the parade route.
- Here's the visual - Red = Students Parade Route. Yellow = Parent Areas
- After the parade, please allow your student to go back to class to pack up and go through usual dismissal procedures. If students are leaving from the parade, they must be checked out in the office.
Board Chat
Mark your calendars for the next Board Chat! SSSD Board Members Leah Helme and Jane Toothaker invite parents, staff, and community members to drop by Strawberry Park Elementary for a discussion focused on "Technology in Our Schools."
Whether you want to share your perspectives, ask questions, or learn more about how technology is being used across our district, we are here to listen!
When: Wednesday, November 4 | 3:30 PM – 4:30 PM
Where: Strawberry Park Elementary Media Center
Topic: Technology Use in Our Schools
All members of the community are welcome to join the conversation. We look forward to seeing you there!
Morning Clubs
Our morning clubs are about so much more than starting the day with a fun activity! They give Sea Wolves the chance to explore their interests, make new friends, connect with students across grade levels, and discover passions beyond the classroom.
Through clubs, students build confidence, practice teamwork, develop leadership skills, and strengthen their sense of belonging. Younger students find role models, older students have opportunities to lead, and everyone gets a chance to be part of something meaningful.
Sometimes, the most important learning happens when kids have the opportunity to explore, connect, and grow together. And what better way to start the school day?
We love seeing our Sea Wolves start their mornings building friendships, trying new things, and growing together!
*STEM Club will start in January for 3rd-5th graders during lunch/recess.
Fall Book Fair
Square One Art
Please ask your child about their Square 1 Art flyer/order form that was sent home this week. To order fun items with your child’s artwork scan the QR code on the front of the flyer. The access code will take you directly to your child's artwork on the website to shop. Or you can go to SQUARE1ART.COM to see your child's art. The flyer has their art access code. If you do not have the access code you can type in your child's first and last name (be sure to put both, otherwise it will pull up artwork with anyone with the same last name for the past 17 years).
Orders are due by November 19th.
The class that raises the most money through orders, will get a pizza party in the art room!
If you have any questions please email erinkreis@ssk12.org.
Lost & Found
HELP US KEEP THOSE WINTER GEAR ITEMS OUT OF THE LOST & FOUND!
As the temperatures drop and snow gear starts making its way to school, we have a friendly reminder for our Sea Wolf families: PLEASE LABEL EVERYTHING!
We recently donated three large bags full of lost items with no names on them! Before donating, we carefully go through everything to look for names. If an item is labeled, we do our best to get it back to its owner. Without a name, it’s nearly impossible to know who it belongs to!
Please take a few minutes to label your student's:
-Boots
-Snow pants
-Coats and jackets
-Hats and mittens
-Sweatshirts and hoodies
-Backpacks, lunchboxes, water bottles, and anything else that comes to school!
A quick label can make all the difference between an item making it back home or becoming part of the lost and found! Thank you for helping us keep track of our Sea Wolves' belongings and making sure those winter essentials find their way back to the right students.
Crosswalk Volunteers
Interested in helping out our SPE team? We'd love to have parent volunteers for our afternoon crosswalk! It's 15 minutes in the afternoons, and we would be happy to provide training. This allows for other staff members to work in the office, helping students get where they need to be at the end of the day. Please click here to volunteer! We have most days covered, except we have a few open Monday's that are still open!
Thank you so much to the fabulous moms who have been volunteering! Your time makes a huge difference, and we appreciate you so much!

Community Flyers
Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club is gearing up for a VERY snowy Winter Carnival this year. The theme is Let It Snow! Button submissions are due by November 1.
For the past four years, Laura has taught Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” dance to Steamboat Montessori elementary students, culminating in a flash mob performance downtown during the Halloween Stroll. This year, she is excited to expand the tradition and invite students, families, and community members from across Routt County to join!
Thriller Dance Workshop
Thursday, October 29th
5:30–7:00 PM
Steamboat Montessori Cafetorium
$25 per person
All ages welcome—kids and adults!
No dance experience necessary.
During the 1.5-hour workshop, participants will learn a fun, accessible version of the iconic “Thriller” choreography and practice together as a group.
Then, on October 31st, participants will have the opportunity to head downtown and perform the dance as a community flash mob during the Halloween Stroll!
The goal is to create a fun community tradition that brings kids, parents, and families together through movement and performance!
