We would like to announce that we have two open positions for parents to serve on our School Community Council at Salem Junior High School for the 2026-27 and 2027-28 school years. Those who serve on the council will have input into the School Improvement Plan, the use of School Land Trust money, school building needs, and school-level policies directly affecting students. The council will meet once each month (currently we meet the 2nd Thursday of each month @ 3:00).
Nominations are open August 7th-14th. If you would like to file a nomination, please visit SaJHS and place your nomination in the box located in the main office or email Chris Thompson at chris.thompson@nebo.edu.

SCC elections will take place August 17th-21st.

This year’s picture day is on Tuesday, August 25. Parents can pre-pay for school pictures online or students can pick up a picture order form from the front office during the first couple of days of school. If you would like to pre-pay for school pictures online, go to: (https://bellphoto.com/) and use the code SALEMJHFALL2026. Picture retakes will be on the morning of October 1st.

All school fees can be paid online at School Cash Online. Yearbooks are listed under “optional fees” and can be purchased online as well.

Fee Waivers-It is necessary to apply for a fee waiver annually; last year’s application will not be valid for this school year. Students may receive a fee waiver for one of the following reasons:

• Family receives TANF (currently qualified for financial assistance or food stamps)

• Student receives Supplemental Security Income (qualified child with disabilities)

• Student qualifies for McKinney-Vento

• Student is in Foster Care (under Utah or local governmental supervision) or State Custody

• Student is eligible based on family/household income verification

Please bring the required income verification as described in the fee waiver application as well as the application English Fee Waiver Application // Spanish Fee Waiver Application.

School Lunch - LINQ Connect Online or the LINQ Connect App (available on iOS and Android) will be used for meal services in the 2026–2027 school year. This will make it easier for families to apply for Free and Reduced Lunch, manage lunch balances, view menus, and more. Student meals are $1.50 for breakfast and $2.50 for lunch. You will need to submit a Meal Benefits Application in order to qualify for free or reduced-price meals for the 2026-27 school year. Remember applications have to be completed annually. Qualification is based on factors including household size, income, participation in assistance programs such as SNAP, FDPIR, and TANF, as well as living situations such as homelessness and migrancy. Free & Reduced Lunch Applications are currently available. Please watch for additional communication from our Child Nutrition Team very soon.

Class change requests will be accepted until August 31st through a Google Form available on our counseling website or by using the link below. Requests will be reviewed in the order they are received, so we encourage you to submit them as early as possible.
